I believe Charlie will die, but he will not die in vain. He will be able to connect the wires before he does, thus giving the Losties some glimmer of hope of rescue.
I don't know who will die, but I don't think it will be Charlie - that just seems way to obvious, and Lost is rarely obvious!

Cooper (Perhaps Sawyer tells Locke to kill his own dad in the trailer?)
Personally, I don't think Juliet is going to get it this time round. I think the writers have plans for her next season and to kill her off already just doesn't seem like something they intend to do.
It could be Ben. I think he has a good chance of being shot in the showdown that was mentioned. Charlie is an odd one. Desmond has predicted his death, Dom himself has said that he will play an important part in the finale without physically being there, all of this points to Charlie being killed off. But it is because Charlie dying is an obvious choice that I don't think he will die. Afterall, Desmond was able to alter fate when he traveled back in time (he got hit by the cricket bat instead of the barman) so perhaps Charlie will avoid his doom.
Desmond might get killed. Someone said that they might kill him off for the pure shock of it, but I reckon that he might see his own death and go out with guns blazing - proving to himself and everyone that he is not a coward. And his courage might just make him a great man.
Sawyer will die.
Charlie dying is just too damn obvious. But whoever dies will probably be an original cast member from season 1. Jin being a strong contender imo.
I think Charlie's death is too obivous at this point, like it was done on purpose to mislead us. I'm not saying he won't die, but I think they might be using his rumored death to distract us from other possible deaths. I would actually put money on Claire dying. Which would throw another possible Charlie death into the mix when you think about suicide. But here's something I was thinking about. The whole comment about Charlie playing a big part in the finale without actually being there. I'm thinking something along these lines could happen: First, someone kills Claire or does something that leads to her death. Secondly, Charlie kills that person in revenge. Next, he either gets killed in return or else he is so paralyzed by grief that he can't help the losties and just stays with Claire's body, in either case there is an excuse from him not physically being there. I'm thinking her death could happen in epi 21 (Charlie's flashback) and if he kills or wounds someone important (Ben?), then that person could have the finale for flashbacks on their deathbed. Sounds reasonable right?

Sawyers storyline will end and he will die. Seeing as how he had his little make ammends episode, I think it'll happen.
I dont want Sawyer to die but why else are the TFTB are presenting Cooper/real Sawyer now?
Finding the real Sawyer and confronting him is the James Ford caracter main axis..
EXCEPT if the confrontation is a real turning point for the caracter, the bad Sayer turning good after casting his demons....And being more and more suitable for the role of the new "leader" of the Losties.But that would be quite simplistic wouldn't it?

Come on, what do you think that you will get with this? The general lines on the scenario are writed since long time ago. There's no fissures in these screenwriters. and this is one of the amazing things of this show. If Sawyer must die, will die, if you liked or not! You only like this show for Sawyer? I hope you not...
I have a very strong premonition that Sawyer will die in the finale of this season. According to the spoilers, his story will come full circle soon with him confronting the real Sawyer. He'll get a closure and some kind of a redemption perhaps and that'll be it. As much as I don't like Sawyer, I admit that killing him off might be a very risky step. Taking into account how popular his character is (for some reasons beyond my comprehension), his death may work to the detriment of the show.
But then again, if there are viewers who watch the show just because "Josh/Sawyer is hot" then I think TPTB shouldn't beat themselves up in case of losing these people. I guess the show is being written for more sophisticated, insightful audience, not the fan girls. :>
^I completely agree with you, marcin. I like Sawyer, but sometimes irritates me this biased attitude. Lost is much so more than an only character!

you people think that sawyer will die because his storuline is end. in that way jack,kate,lock,said,hugo, will die because their storyline is also end.

None of them has finished their history yet Hulk! Locke and Jack are, in fact, the soul of the story, because they represents faith vs science respectively. I think they won't die (at least untill the end of the series); Also Jack needs to resolve a lot of conflicts with himself, the same as Kate, who needs to redempt her mind from her past; Hugo has a big problem behind him, don't you remember the mental institution?
If some people say that Sawyer maybe could die, is because he's in a redemption process NOW, and this fact will possibly ends with his particular blame.
I know Charlie is the popular vite, but I think it should be at least considered that Claire will be the next to go.
Charlie keeps trying to save Claire, but maybe he'll start allowing her fate to take its course? She will die, Charlie will live, and Desmond is off the hook from trying to save him all the time.
I hope he could be Charlie or Jack.

Leslies... Claire won't die. She's got unresolved issues too - for instance her being Jack's sister and Christian's daughter.
Jack, Locke, Kate are still very much conflicted inside and on the edge, there's a long way ahead of them. I think Ben and Juliet are quite safe because the whole "Others" storyline circulates around them.
That leaves Sawyer and Charlie on the battleground, but Charlie is too obvious a choice.
I won't mind if it's Sawyer. Because if he doesn't, he'll soon turn into a fluffy boy and his character will be totally ruined.
I don't think it's Charlie. At least, that's too stupid: kill the character that got this prediction at the beginning of the season!

it might be jack and desound. jack by mistake by ben in a shootout with the others and then desound by juilet, she will hang him, because of the zoom in of the knot at the end of the epoisode.

Marcin, you said it RIGHT. Very, very, very, well said. It is indeed Sawyer that's leaving the set.
The thing with Locke is that his story can keep resetting because he always seems to be insecure and easily manipulated.
I'm worried about Sawyer as his story basically is coming to a natural conclusion. However, I did enjoy seeing a different side of Sawyer with him working together with Sayid.
I'm glad there aren't rumors going around about Sayid dying.
but isnt sawyer the audience's favourite character? i know they have a major plan, but i think they do keep an eye on what people think and would not want to upset a great part of their audience. sawyer is important, he is the antagonist, without him lost would be much more boring. i think they will probably kill the character, but i would expect it to happen towards the end of the series.

Sawyer is not the antagonist! He's one of the losties, not the enemy of them. In that moment, the antagonist are the Others, but i think that the Island itself can be the antagonist and the protagonist at the same time. Why people thinks that Sawyer is the most popular character? I don't agree with that!
Sayid's story is pretty much told, he is a minority. 1+1= he will die.
Sawyer is the main character, of course, to me and millions of viewers. If Sawyer dies it is Lost death.
But I don't know why are we talking about it, I think is cause the promo is misterious with that final image of him. But just yesterday we were talking about Jack's death, I'm going crazy, I'm going to stop reading this pages.

sawyer will not die that is sure. his storyline isn't over he has a child and he has love on the island kate. and sawyer character gets a big development hi is now a good person.hi is not the same sawyer from season 1 and season 2. the love for kate has changed him a lot. in my opinion sawyer isn't gona kill cooper im sure in that.
sorry, english is not my mother language. what i meant to say, is that he is often used as an opposition figure between jack, the "hero" figure on the losties camp. the tension between them is important to the development of many stories... it makes things more interesting and complex.
im saying he is the favourite character based on many polls ive seen on the web. he is not my favourite character, but i would be sad to see him go.

Anyway, I am ALWAYS worried that Jack will die... but other than that, I'm thinking after last episode, what is left there for Juliet? Either she finally gets to go home, or she dies... I think. I don't like her, so most likely she'll become like the mainest main character blah, but I just don't see it. As for Sawyer dying I wouldn't worry, that's not gonna happen. I'm more worried about him and Jack switching roles, if Jack is indeed the real Trojan Horse! Claire is a good suggestion, but I think it will be Charlie. And I think the reason they are doing it this way is because Charlie's death will be the hugest death EVER to have happened of Lost, he's like one of the core 3! So to avoid scaring away too many viewers they choose to let us see it coming, so people will be like, oh cry but we knew it was gonna happen, and continue watching. That makes sense imo.
The Internet polls are not a trustworthy source at all (the Internet audience is not as far the majority of the audience of this show). Anyway, it doesn't matters if Sawyer is or not the people idol, he's not the main character on this show, and the series won't change his story because people wants to see more Josh Holloway scenes. I say again the same thing: I like Sawyer's character, but I think that people are driving things up the wall and trying to convert his character in something he's not. I wanna think that the audience, the whole audience I mean, is very pleased about Jack's character and prefers him and Locke to the rest. We are talking here about Sawyer's death because some of us (me too) considers that if he closes his issue with Cooper, his function in this show will be finished, and maybe then he will die. This not means that we want this, but only that we consider this thing as possible and in that case necessary. If Sawyer continues without an objective to his character (sorry, I'm sure he and Kate doesn't will finish together) for me it wont have any sense in his continuity in the show .But this is just my opinion.
What does everyone think about Sayid? I notice not alot of comments have been left about him...wouldn't it be typical of the producers to kill off a person none of us even thought of? I totally hate to say this, because Sayid is by far my favorite character.
I really don't think that they will kill Charlie. Think about how many fans Charlie has; TONS. And he has some hard-core dedicated fans, since a lot of people like Dominic Monaghan.
Take all of those viewers, and imagine what would happen if they all stopped watching (which a lot of them are pledging to do). Can you imagine the drop in the ratings?
I'm not saying that Charlie fans are only obsessed with Dominic. I LOVE Charlie, he's my favorite character, and it's not because Dominic plays him. But if they kill of Charlie, they've just killed off one of the reasons that I love the show so much.
Besides, it's far too obvious! My bet is on Juliet.

Isn't Charlie seeing Kate in real life? Would they risk losing Kate, if he went of and started working in the UK or Hollywood, meaning months away from Kate in Hawaii?
Also, what if Desmond's premonition was around Charlie's first "death" - when he was dead, stopped breathing from Ethan's hanging in the first season, but he didn't get to see the end of the fate "flashback" where Charlie was meant to be saved by Jack...

i hate to say it but it could be Sawyer or Desmond. plot-wise they'd both be interesting choices.
I don't think it's coincidence that Charlie has faced the possibility of death (the parts of the plane almost falling on him in the Pilot, being hung by Ethan, all the chances of overdose, the cave in, the implosion of the hatch, etc) even more then all the others.
Maybe just because Desmond can see the way that Charlie might die does not necessarily mean that it is the way that he WILL die. He seemed to be doing fine avoiding death before Desmond came along, maybe he doesn't need Desmond to tell him when it's going to happen. Maybe Charlie can just dodge fate anyway.

juliet won't die. elizabeth mitchell has signed as a regular for season 4. all points to charlie.. the only character who didn't die in his flashback episode was boone. shannon, ana lucia, eko, nikki and paulo all died in their respective flashback episode. if they're reserving the episode right before the last one to his flashback, he will get off the series
Ze, can you provide any link corroborating your news about Elizabeth Mitchell. I didn't know that she had already signed a contract for S4. I hope it's true cause Mitchell is, IMHO, the best actress on the show.
It is possible we won't see a body. Rumours of a death would add to add suspense to a cliffhanger which could involve any or all of the main characters.

Jack will have ANOTHER flashback. "Stranger in a Strange Land" wasn't a very good episode and a lot of people are bored with Jacks past. And by the way, his next flash will be on the finale episodes. And he's the one who gets Juliet in the losties camp, and he's really getting kinda blind, because for most it's pretty obvious that Juliet isn't a person you would trust. It was said that the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle will only be ended by the death of one of these three. Kristin wrote that there's a big unexpected death coming and I think that it won't be either Sawyer or Kate because they really should have their own flashback in their death-episode.
The most schoking would be the death of Kate,which I don't think is gonna happen,it's either jack or sawyer,I hope it's jack,and he has a flashback too in the finale,so I'm guessing it's him

I think is a mistake to kill one of the main characteers cause this is an addictive show cause the misteries but more cause you love them. To kill Kate, Locke, Sawyer or Jack means to stop watching the show so many people. I think that the death of one of them is just a trick to make us to be in suspense.But I'm suffering just thinking that Sawyer could die, I don't like a death so important. I don't wanna stop watch Lost.
Someone will die and we'll all just have to accept it. Jack would be a really interesting twist and Matthew Fox would have the best exit from a TV show ever bascially. All the charaters have unresolved issues but they killed of all the Tail folk before we even really knew who they were, even Boone to an extent. My money is on someone who doesn't have a defined relationship with the Others, someone like Sun or Hurley or even Aaron if he counts. And all of these tears about Sawyer. If they were going to kill him they'd done it with Kate screaming and crying in the backgroud and rain at the cages. That's a death scene.
What if they "kill" Jack a la 24? ie we're meant to think he's dead until next January, when the island's healing powers miraculously bring him back to life? Just a thought.

Hi everyone I'm new to this space but I LOVE this site! Here's my question: The episode before last spent a lot of time with Hurley trying to get Sawyer used to the idea of becoming the new leader, because Jack was gone. Part of it was ruse on Hurley's part to get Sawyer to be nice, of course. But I wonder if it might not be foreshadowing on the writers' part to "prepare us" for Jack's death. Yeah, they brought Jack back to nip the idea in the bud, but isn't par for the course? Play with us a little so when Jack does die and Sawyer becomes the leader we will say, "Oh, yeah, they did say that would happen!" My bet is on Jack dying. Too bad, he's a great character.

Almost every major character has some type of connection with the main story but from the beginning he has been a null one.
I dont think any other major characters(Jack,Sawyer,Kate,Locke) will die, however the show may end while one of them is in "is he/she dead" or "what will happen to him/her" situation..
