You know Damon, you know, but we still don't know. :D I really like the explanations of this guy. He's trying to explain, but at the same time trying not to give too much away. I wish they could air season 5 on the fall of 2008, sad for us... we have to wait very much.
Possible points of interest:
Events on the island have always been seen as the present but that may not be the case after this season.
The writer's strike had no impact on the finale, it will unfold as it was always going to. The impact was felt in episodes leading up to it.
The finale will not be as 'tricky' or deceptive as last year's but the end will still be highly intriguing.
The ultimate ending of Lost will not feature the ambiguity of the Soprano's infamous 'cut to black'. It will be more straightforward.
"Upcoming season"......What a joke. It might as well be 100 years from now!
It's definitely sad for us, but it gives us the opportunity to go back and rewatch/reexplore past episodes. I think that's one of the great things about LOST: 80-90% of the episodes stand up to repeated viewings, and actually get better with repeated viewings. The same can't be said for most television programs. We should consider ourselves lucky that we have such a good collection of reruns to keep us occupied for the rest of the year.
Just a thought.
The finale certainly doesn't have to be "deceptive" to be kick-ass. I'll never forget when they took Walt off the raft. That rocked my world!
They so better win an emmy this year!
ITA with Vandeley.
The BEST season finale ever.
I was all happy that this boat was coming back in the radar thing they had and I had a huge smile on my face, then I saw the boat and this old man with that woolen hat, wow, how desperate can you look, I thought, well they must be some fishermen, and then OMG! Bastards! WAAAAAAAAAALT!
I was shocked!!
Good old memories :)
what will we do after lost
The season 1 finale was good, but I was lucky to have half of season 2 to go straight into after that. After waiting half of season 1 to see what's in the Hatch, they only tease at you! If I were watching that when it first aired, I'd have been pretty disappointed.
But I didn't, and I was able to meet Des right away, so no hard feelings from me. :)
what will we do after lost
After Lost, when everyone's story has been wrapped up for good or for bad...WE become the losties :/
Through the Looking Glass was the best piece of work I have ever seen on TV. The flash forward was ingenius and the Charlie and Des story was unbelievable. I do not think any moment will top Charlie drowning then Jack meeting with Kate. The whole episode I did not realize it was a flash forward and even when Kate got out of the vehicle my first thought was, "Jack and Kate knew each other before the Island?!"
Of course I felt stupid once I realized it was after the island and it was a flash forward, but back then I never came to sites like this, I just watched the episodes and that was it.
If Season 4 finale can be half as good as Season 3's, then I will be happy as can be. This Season is the best so far.
so i think its pretty evident that the timeline of the show will be different--perhaps the island scenes serving as the "flashes" in the finale?
This season has been pretty solid. Only fairly useless episode was The Other Woman.
It will be interesting to see what timeline(s) the show explores next season.
For now at least it looks like Locke is going to "move the island" in the Season Four finale, and most or all of the off-island people will not know how to find it. Most of the principal cast will be back next season, so the logical assumption is that there will be an on-island storyline and an off-island storyline.
Darlton said Season Five will be why they have to go back and will focus a lot on DHARMA.
Seriously, though, none of us know what the hell is going on!
I think this year's finale will leave us with a OMG moment not a WTF. But then again, on LOST, the OMGs tend to become WTFs. so excited about the next hours!!:P
when lost is finally over, maybe i could have another kid. theres only room in my life right now for my husband, my son, and LOST!
To me, next season will have this configuration. An 06 Storyline, set off island, and an on island storyline. There will be no more FF or FB because this stories happen paralelly (spell?). Sayid finding Nadia and marryin her... Kate raising Aaron, Hurley before the mental institute, Jack before 4x04, and Sun after JiYeon is born... those will be the "FF" next season... and then, Locke and Ben adeventures, Others, etc will be on island, after ther rescue.
:o Something like that, I expect.
It's funny- around 2003 I was hyping up the final Star Wars like crazy. I always thought, WHAT WILL I DO AFTER STAR WARS? I was on the JediCouncil Boards all day long... and now... I'm asking the same thing about LOST!
Hopefully something will come around next year :)
I'm still holding to my theory that the island is "moved" to the past, where the Losties left on the island get to experience the Dharma Initiative first hand. Think of the questions that could be answered by seeing the past as it unfolds.
The main timeline for season 5 would then be, for those on the island, in the past, and the timeline for the O6 would be the time between Jack & Kate's reunion at the end of Looking Glass and the time when they finally travel back to the island.
saraH said... when lost is finally over, maybe i could have another kid. theres only room in my life right now for my husband, my son, and Lost.

So, do you just sleep during the 8 month hiatus? :)
Anyway, as for my theory for next season... There very much will be an off-island and on-island storyline.
The key thing though is that we've traditionally done roughly a day per episode on-island. In order for it to seemingly work we'd have to go into warp speed somehow. Or jump around just like the FFs (Which would be confusing as hell.)
