Nestor Carbonell Interview

Thanks to The ODI for the heads up.

Nestor Carbonell—who is again playing the mysterious, apparently ageless Richard Alpert in the fifth season of ABC's Lost—told SCI FI Wire that he understands if viewers are a little disoriented by the show's time-jumping storyline this year: So is he.

"I'm a little dizzy," Carbonell admitted in an exclusive interview on Wednesday. "Initially, it took me, in the first episode, [a moment to figure out] 'OK, when am I exactly? Where are we, and when am I?' But, no, it didn't take long. I think the viewers, after this episode [that aired Jan. 28], the show very much settles down, and you get the gist of the season, that you're going to be dealing with some elements of time travel."

Big thanks to DarkUFO reader Chris J for the following filming report and photos.

I also saw the same stuff. I took some picture as well. i saw them filming in the day time as well. They were shooting at a "apartment" type complex.

And the 1st scene I'm not sure who was involved. I THOUGHT I saw Abbadon's head, but i could be wrong. and i could hear them over the fence, mentioning money. and being surprised and stuff. they also were later shooting a scene with a little Asian boy (assuming its a young miles.) running into a hotel room, and I believe seeing a "dead body" because thats what they had kinda said. i saw them putting a dummy in there. and when the boy went in the room he acted surprised, and then i heard them saying "Charlie up" "Eko's up" and "Locke's up" between takes.
after the boy would run inside, an Asian woman and an older looking gentlemen went in there after him. there was also an older looking Asian man on set acting as well. i m not sure doing what or who it was.

Later we saw them filming at that taco shop, and miles being thrown into the van and being kidnapped. i didn't hear them say that we weren't allowed to take photos. so i took some from time to time. and it would explain why they were eyeballing me like i was killing kittens.
there were a lot of other people there, and a lot of people taking pictures.

The security guard earlier that day said he didn't want me to take photos, but we were welcome to watch. so we did.

Funny story. we actually thought the Mexican food place they were shooting at was real, so prior to them actually shooting we tried to actually order food, becuase there were some other people there. and when we tried to order none of the crew said anything, the guy at the counter actually played along, thinking that we were actually in the scene. it was quite embarrassing. and hilarious at the same time.

Heres my photos from the day.

With filming for Episode 5x13 underway, our good friend Roxy was able to grab some interesting pictures today.

Apparently Miles was filming a scene off-island being kidnapped by two guys and one of the men seemed to have a Swan Logo on his jacket!?

NOTE: I am assuming this is for Episode 5x13 as filming for that episode began today, but it is possible this crew is still filming for a previous episode. Once we know more we will confirm

Here is her little report and some pics:

Today they were filming off of Lehua St near Chuck E Cheese in Pearl City. It was a shot of Miles being kidnapped by two men and thrown into a van. Pics are attached :)

Is that the Swan symbol on the "bad guys" jacket???? We weren't suppose to take pictures- so I didn't get any action shots, sorry!

Damon and Carlton Interview

Update: 18:45 This is an extended interview that we have previously posted.

Thanks to the ODI for the heads up. Here is another Season 5 interview with Damon and Carlton.

After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had, in order to survive. But, they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, housing and hatches with electricity and hot & cold running water, a group of island residents known as “The Others,” and a mysterious man named Jacob. The survivors have also found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship, called The Black Rock, a downed Beechcraft plane from a failed drug run, the remains of an ancient statue, as well as bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative -- a group of scientific researchers who inhabited the island in the recent past. They also encountered a freighter, stationed off the island, that some thought would lead to their rescue, but ultimately almost caused their extinction.

With only about 30 original hours left, until the final episode of the ABC television sensation Lost airs in 2010, Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sun (Yunjin Kim) and Claire’s son, Aaron -- otherwise known as the Oceanic 6 -- have been rescued and continue to try to pick up the pieces of the lives they knew before the crash, and perpetuate the lie concocted to hide the truth of what really happened. Now, Jack and Ben (Michael Emerson) must convince all of them to return to the island, in order to save those left behind. Adding to their worries is the fact that they also have to take the body of Jeremy Bentham, aka Locke (Terry O’Quinn), with them in order to make things right with the island. Butm locating the island may prove even more difficult since Ben moved it. It’s not just a question of where the island went, but when. Back in the world and on the island, the band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against all odds if they want to stay alive. But, as they have discovered during their journey, nothing is what it seems, and danger and mystery loom behind every corner, with even those they thought could be trusted turning against them.

Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse spoke to MediaBlvd Magazine about the advantages of making a show, for which you already know when the ending will come.

MediaBlvd Magazine> Should viewers assume that the finale of Season 3 was the first flash-forward, or is it possible that some things before that were in the future?

Carlton Cuse> It’s all relativistic. What you will really learn from the season is that, if you look at Lost in its totality, where various pieces of the jigsaw puzzle go in, they all go in relative to each other. So, that was the first one we saw on the show, but in a timeline sense, you may see other flash-forwards that would start earlier than that.

Damon Lindelof> That’s the first event that happened after the Oceanic Six were rescued. Nothing else you’ve seen happened after that.

Hey All,
As many of you know by now, earlier this week Karen and I had an opportunity to chat with LOST Star and fan favorite Jorge Garcia (Hurley). Garcia took time from is busy filming schedule and was absolutely great and very candid. He talked to us about himself, his hobbies, his blog (Dispatches from the Island) and of course LOST.

The LOST talk covered everything from some funny/favorite moments of his character to talking about the second hour of the Season 5 premiere Episode 5x02 The Lie. We of course asked him several of the questions that you all sent in. He loved them and answered several of them, including providing us with his thoughts about time travel, the Hurley Bird, whether he thinks Hurley is "Special", Libby and much much more!!

Towards the end of the interview, I asked him about his thoughts about fansites like DarkUFO posting spoilers and we had a nice chat about that as well.

There are some minor spoilers spread through the interview and he did clarify a previous spoiler about the Smoke Monster and getting more information about it this season.

NOTE: The interview has been uploaded to iTunes, but if you can not listen via iTunes, you can use the link below to find the audio player and download link.

Enjoy!

Filming Update from Ryan

Thanks to Ryan for these 2 filming reports which should be for Episode 5.13

Eagle-eyed “LOST” spotter Ed Morita sends a brief report today, after finding the crew setting up on Lipoa St. behind the Pearl Kai Shopping Center in Pearlridge. They were settling in for a long stay, with notices spanning through Friday evening. Apart from watching the crew receive official “LOST” Season 5 T-shirts, he caught them carefully enclosing a blue van in thick canvas to simulate a night shot. I’m pretty sure this is the Canton-Rainier carpet van our friends Ben, Jack, Sayid and Locke have been driving around in.

Yesterday’s photoset from Mike, depicting an unfamiliar beach camp set built near Camp Erdman on the North Shore, prompted many fans to scour them for clues. Today, Jennie from Denver passes along her own photos from the same spot, one of which reveals a tantalizing link.

The last image in the set affords a good look at a couple of key props. First is an orange life preserver, like those used on boats, suggesting we’re looking at the aftermath of a shipwreck, not a plane crash. The second is a case or box bearing the word “BESIXDOUZE.”

A quick Google by commenter Andrea reveals a Wikipedia entry:

46610 Besixdouze (1993 TQ1) is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt. It was discovered by Kin Endate and Kazuo Watanabe on October 15, 1993. The name of the asteroid is a reference to The Little Prince, who lived on an asteroid named B612. The name Bésixdouze is the concatenation of B, six and douze, French for “B six twelve”. Also, 46610 is the decimal equivalent of the hexadecimal number B612.

Spoilerhounds will recognize “The Little Prince” immediately as the title of the upcoming fourth episode of Season 5. And the fact that it’s a French name makes it impossible to not link the name to Danielle Rousseau’s character. Doc Arzt has confirmed that “Besixdouze” as the name of Rosseau’s boat. But it doesn’t mean that Mira Furlan will neccessarily appear. Listeners of “The Transmission” know only of the pending debut of a “young Danielle Rousseau.”

"I'm not dead, yet!"

This is the good news that Lost's fire-haired vixen Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) has to share with fans, the morning after we saw her face-plant into her own blood on the increasingly trippy time-tripping series.

"So far, I'm good," Mader told me today over a cup of coffee in Los Angeles (she's on a break from filming the show in Hawaii). "The fans have been so cool. Everyone's like, 'Nooo, find your constant!' "

Speaking of that "constant," who could very well save Charlotte's life, could Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) be the one? Could Charles Widmore be Charlotte's father? And what request does Rebecca have for the producers regarding one Mr. Josh Holloway?

Feel like you're sufficiently getting Lost? Here to help you each week is TVGuide.com's new "Getting Lost" video series. This latest installment finds executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof addressing three hot topics coming out of the Jan. 28 "Jughead" episode (spoiler-ish alert):

* In light of the shocking "introduction" made at the end of "Jughead," might the time-tripping castaways run into other (albeit younger) familiar faces?
* Exactly who is gun-toting tough-gal Ellie? Going against the popular consensus (which I find just a bit too pat/obvious), I run my own theory by Team Darlton.
* And speaking of mystery women, who is this comatose Theresa? And how big a role will she play in future episodes?

Latest from Kristin - More Quadrangle Details

Here are the latest tidbits from Kristin from E! Onlline:

WHAT LIES AHEAD

1. Jin's coming back next week. (Or so I'm told.) Yay, Daniel Dae Kim! We've missed you.
2. Keep reading below for some thoughts on the love quadrangle (pictured above), courtesy of a chat with Lost chiefs Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse...

How would you describe the Kate/Sawyer/Jack love triangle storyline this season? Is it given much prominence or are you pulling away from that a little bit?

Carlton Cuse: Not at all. I think we're always trying to find the balance between character-based stories and mythology-based stories, and I think it'd be better to categorize it as a quadrangle. Juliet is very much in the middle of that. In fact, Sawyer and Juliet were last seen together on the island, and Kate and Jack were off the island, so that's something which is interesting to us and we will explore. It very much is a quadrangle.

Damon Lindelof: What's cool about the show this year is that we're kind of picking up both stories exactly where we left off. On the island there's been this big flash of light, and Sawyer and Juliet are standing there on the beach having just seen the freighter explode. For those guys, Kate just left on the chopper five minutes ago and for Kate and Jack, they were engaged, they broke up, she went on trial, he got addicted to pills, he grew a horrible beard...

That was a bad beard.

Damon: (Laughs) Yes, but it's gone now so we'll never have to speak of it again. The fact of the matter is, it's all a matter of perspective; if you're watching the Oceanic Six show then the island scenes are flashback, if you're watching the island show then the Oceanic Six scenes are flashforward. But as far as the relationships are concerned, Sawyer and Juliet have kind of just started hanging out, and Kate and Jack have already gone through the ringer. If and when they all come together, there should be some interesting permutations in play.
