i'm sorry but i don't feel like listening to the entire thing, can you please give a description?
anonymous, do you need help going to the toilet too?
I agree with anon, if someone who's already listened to it could breifly summarize the key points that would be great
can someone write a description of this, i dont have speakers on my computer
- Instead of calling the episode "I Do," we should now call it "I did. and I liked it." The announcer said that jokingly.
- Kate chose Sawyer, her choice couldn't have been more clear. DC and CC don't agree with the people who say sex isn't important.
-Jin and Sun made it back to the beach OK.
-Ben will not die on the operating table. DC jokes about his death.
- The message on Eko's stick will propel Locke on a mission.
- The story on the seperate island with Jack/Kate/Sawyer will make sense in the season, but they will be getting back to the beach stories soon.
- We are gonna find out about Desmond, second or 3rd ep.
- We are gonna find out if Ben was lying about the island being like Alcatraz.
- We are gonna see Rousseau again.
- We are gonna find out something about the Dharma Initiative and the Others, are they the same?
- They take creative license on some issue- like the characters hygiene.
etc etc etc.
thank you very much anon for summarizing
Your welcome.
Here's a direct quote about kate's choice, in case anyone cares:
"I mean, who's watching it and going, 'I'm not sure that she picked Sawyer, I think maybe she went with Jack there.' When you're curled up naked on someone's chest, you've made your choice." - Damon Lindelof
They also talked pretty interestingly about "Jacob" and his list. Carlton mentioned Jacob when a viewer asked if there is another leader other then Ben. Carlton went on to say that Jacob is a peron in the Bible, that he was the father of the 12 tribes of Israel, and that Ben was his youngest son. I thought that was the most interesting thing in the whole podcast
Ahhh! I'm the only person with a name. I'm scared...
They also confirmed my thoughts that if you're disappointed in the first 6 episodes, don't worry because it'll get better just like last season's first 6 episodes weren't as satisfying as the rest of the season.
--Disgruntled
They're currently writing the 13th episode, but they DO have a definitive storyline for the rest of the season.
--Disgruntled
Cheers, the place where everyone knows your name. DarkUFO, the place where nobody knows anyones name. Lol.
Later in the podcast, they said that there definitely is a second island.
They also said there is definitely going to be a 4th season, at least.
Some more highlights:
They CONFIRMED that Kate doesn't like tacos.
They CONFIRMED that there will be a 4th season.
They said the island is very very large and it would be hard to find a tiny island 2 miles off shore, that's why Sun, Jin, and Sayid didn't see the Hydra island while sailing around the island.
Shaved pits on Kate? People don't wanna see disgusting, realistic island dwelling hygiene.
They tried to dodge outright saying it, but they pretty much hinted that Jacob was the big boss.
They said that there might be another podcast before the spring premiere.
You guys really should listen to this podcast, it's hilarious.
--Disgruntled
It is indeed funny, but their whole shtick is becoming somewhat stale if you're looking for real analysis and serious answers. Sure, they give us a dozen interesting items about the rehash and future episodes, which takes up maybe 1 min of the podcast. The rest? Comedy, slapstick, sexual innuendo, sidestepping, laughing.
Don't get me wrong, I love the comedy, but how about balancing it out with a bit more serious discussion?
It's really hard to offer analysis and serious discussion without spoiling anything when you're the producers of the show.
--Disgruntled
That's true. I could be wrong, but I feel like podcasts from a year ago were more informative while still not giving away too much.
Now they joke so much I have a hard time knowing what is real info and what is "zombie" info.
Yeah it was a little brainless, but still it's nice to know Ben is safe. And they did confirm there was another island. If they gave away too many spoilers people would complain just as much...
They hinted that Jacob is Ben's father, but won't say either way about Ben being the big boss. Personally, I think Jacob was the leader, but then he stepped down/retired, so now Ben's the leader.
Also, Alcatraz is Damonville.
damon: "this 6 episodes mini arc will make sense with what's coming"
carlton: "answers are coming! answers are coming!"
I guess they've been getting feedback from forums.
Thanks for the podcast, DarkUFO!
It was really entertaining and I'm satisfied with the amount of information they gave. After all, two mysteries ('will ben survive' and 'is there really a second island') were unravelled.
Is there really a second island was NEVER a mystery - how many times do the podcast boys have to hit you people in the head with that fact?
Dusk so you like seeing peoples made up names, makes you feel like you know them?
Anyway, so if Jacob is the leader and Ben has been identified, could there be 11 other groups?
i think it is hard to address/reply to ppl if they don't put their names...there are a lot of anon here...
I put people too lazy to listen to the podcast in the same category of people who wonder why we don't see Jack Bauer on 24 go to the bathroom.
Some of the questions people ask the producers about LOST are just stupid... i.e., "How could there be a second island? Sayid, Jin, and Sun would have seen it." Um, no, because they didn't go around the entire island, morons.
'-We are gonna find out something about the Dharma Initiative and the Others, are they the same?'
Well, Juliet already confirmed the Others are left-over Dharma initiative.
Unless... she was lying?
when did she said others were a left-over of dharma? that never happened
Didn't Juliet say that in the first episode 'A Tale of Two Cities?'
Can this Jacob character be the eye patch dude as well?
This is my prediction:
- Jacob is Ben's father, they fell out over something big, went their ways. Ben became the Others leader & Jacob is another leader of the other Others {who Eko & Jin saw}. I don't know how big Jacob's tribe is but they are dangerous as they av Smokie on their side. I also think there maybe some one else in the station that the eye patch dude is in, that's why he turned it off or one of the losties may regonise him?
there is a big connection with fatheres, ie Jack, Locke, Kate, Sun, etc
- But who are the good guys & who are the bad guys?
Were gonna see more of Rousseau!!
Great podcast Darkufo!!
From "A Tale of Two Cities" (aka Season 3 premiere):
JACK: Is this one of their stations -- the Dharma Initiative?
JULIET: They called it the Hydra.
JACK: So you people are just whatever's leftover of them.
JULIET: Well, that was a long time ago. It doesn't matter who we were. It only matters who we are. We know exactly who you are, Jack Sheppard.
"Ben became the Others leader & Jacob is another leader of the other Others {who Eko & Jin saw}"
You could be right because we haven't seen Ms Klugh (clue) yet, so i was just wondering if she's with Alex and other others in another place.
I don't know you this other "Ben" commenter is, but I demand you change your name immediately! I was here first!
No no no, you guys have it all wrong!! lol
Seriously though, I feel like I have some good insight here. Ben is the leader of the "Good Others" as he declares. Pickett stated that "Shepperd wasn't even on Jacob's list". So, it can be assumed that Pickett is talking about a higher power, hence why he states it.... (like Ben doesn't know what he is doing type thing, Jack wasn't even on Jacob's list, meaning Ben altered the list from Jacob to operate on his tumor. If Jacob is the father of Ben, wouldn't it be logical to assume that Ben is BELOW him? lol Anyways I believe that Jacob is not the leader of another Faction. Jacob is the leader of them all like the father should be , he is off the island and the Others main contact for news, information on losties etc. Patchy on the other hand doesn't look very friendly at all, AND seems to know about the Losties for a long while. So, patchy could very easily be the Leader of the Bad Others. A son of Jacob or he could be Rousseau's ex boyfriend ...
Ben said...
I don't know you this other "Ben" commenter is, but I demand you change your name immediately! I was here first!
----------------------------------
Seeing that Ben is actually my name, and not just a clever screen name, I'm not inclined to change it. You change yours.
Ahem...My real name is also Ben.
Fixed. I wouldn't want you taking credit for my brilliant posts. ;-)
Heaven forbid! LOL
Your changing of your name is appreciated. It's too late now but if you had persisted I would have eventually changed my name. ;) Tough luck now, though. :D
I'd like to point out that Juliet never says they were part of Dharma. She says that "It doesn't matter who we were." not "Yes Jack we are what's left.".
I would also like to say I can turn the same quote around like this:
From "A Tale of Two Cities" (aka Season 3 premiere):
JACK: Is this one of their stations -- the Dharma Initiative?
JULIET: They called it the Hydra.
She says they, not we. This is indicative of a separation between others and Dharma
She says they, not we. This is indicative of a separation between others and Dharma
It's not much of a leap in logic to assume that the implied seperation could be that while the Others once were a part of the Dharma Initiative, they are now something else entirely.
And if you really want to split hairs, Juliet's use of "they" (as in "They called it the Hydra") only inplies a seperation between the Dharma Initiative and herself.
Juliet could have joined the Others long after they splintered off from Dharma, it would then be natural for her to refer to the Initiative in the past tense, as "they." Just because she refers to Dharma as "they" it doesn't mean the Others, as an organization, didn't have their roots in Dharma.
Let's not forget we have an upcoming episode showing both Juliet and Ethan in Portland. They had a life off the island.
Were they kidnapped or did the Others send them there? She got her doctorate in the US or somewhere. Hence, wouldn't it be logical she, and perhaps Ethan, were brought to the island? Or Ethan was sent to bring her?
good one Beach. My guess is Juliet is somehow connected OR she is just like one of the losties yeas ago.
I just listened. So can I now say FOR SURE that the 'traingle' is over? I thought I could have said it at the end of "I Do" but there were still questions floating around in the cosmos. So now I can say THANK YOU!!!! They have ended the bloody triangle. Now we can get on to some real Lost business. I don't think Kate choose badly either ;)
Now if the others have their roots in the Dharma Initiative, how could Ben have lived on the island all his life?
Now if the others have their roots in the Dharma Initiative, how could Ben have lived on the island all his life?
That's a good question... Personally, I think the Others are an amalgam of the "survivors" of Dharma and the natives of the island... the "natives" being Ben and Jacob, and possibly even Mrs. Klugh, etc. I think when Dharma fell apart, it more or less was "absorbed" by the natives.
(On the flip side of that, I think there are former Dharma operatives still on the island that are not part of the Others. I think Kelvin was a rogue Dharma operative, and I think we'll find out that Patchy is another...)
Obviously, I'm just speculating on those names I just mentioned. But I have a feeling the rift between the possible factions in the Others has to do with their feelings about the "outside world" in general, and the Losties in particular.
I think Ben has a position of prominence with the Others because he is a native, and it is a native (Jacob, probably Ben's father) running the whole show. Well, at least the part of the show that is the Others... I'm sure a lot of these other mysteries on the island have nothing to do with them.
Just a theory though.
See I assumed just because Ben lived on the island his whole life, the rest of the Others had, too. But i get what you're saying now. The only problem is: if some of the Dharma team knew the tests were over, why didn't they all? And why didn't they tell the other Dharma members then?
Also, just because Juliet appears off-island in flashbacks, doesn't mean she didn't come from the island(Though I would not be surprised if she was an outsider). Ben said he lived on the island all his life, not that he had never been off the island all his life.
hey! what if Christian Shepard is Ben's Dad and he had so much power over everything that he had people fake his death and there was a dead clone or sumpin' or that they made him chemically appear dead and then he's really Jacob?
wow.
But i dont think that's gonna happen. i prefer flashback-Christian over everyone else.
But i dont think that's gonna happen?
why say it then?
I agree with A star in somebody else's sky, Juliet is probably saying "them" in the sense that she is seperate from the others, I think she was brought to the island and didnt live there all her life.
I also wanted to point out one more thing, correct me if i'm wrong, but in one of the flashbacks, i think Hurleys, we see almost all the Lost characters in the Airport INCLUDING good ol' Ben, collecting tickets i think, in an airport unirform.. HOW CAN THIS BE IF HE LIVED ON THE ISLAND ALL HIS LIFE!? OR was it just a dream instead of a flashback? Just my thoughts.
Arthur, that was Locke's dream (with Boone pushing him in the wheelchair) where Ben was working at the airport, not a flashback.
Hmm... anything can happen in dreams, but i think theres something more to it, goes back to my post about the cloning, along the lines of "THE ISLAND" movie. Maybe the others are clones of people living in the real world and the Dharma initiative involves perfecting cloning, hence the animal shelters, people experiements, etc...
...I think Jacob is going to turn out to be "Ben's actual father, and since Ben was born on the island, Jacob might not be a actual person, or he could be a scientist who created Ben,or something like that.
