No, there are no rules in Lost. Certain episodes will have flash forwards, others of the flash back, others will have neither one nor the other.

No, there are no rules in Lost. Certain episodes will have flash forwards, others will have flash backs, others will have neither one nor the other. This will really depend on the nature of the story, of what DL and CC will write with the screenwriters. I know (am familiar with) the global approach of the upcoming season, but the series will not really change, it will really depend on what the stories will be.
Funny, because it seems the other way around.
The end of season 3, to me anyway, seemed to point that most of the action would take place off-island, either in flashbacks or flashforwards.
Maybe because other than the freighter... what else is there on the island to deal with other than some aftermath and slapping Ben around a little?
