The new season of Lost is still over five months away (arrrrggggh!!!), but shooting on the first episode is underway, and the show's five new cast members are officially in place. Yes, we said five: Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse tell EW.com that Jeff Fahey — a cult-pop fave most famous for The Lawnmower Man and most recently seen in Grindhouse — has been added to the show, joining previously announced newcomers Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan), Lance Reddick (The Wire), Ken Leung (The Sopranos), and British actress Rebecca Mader (The Devil Wears Prada, Love Monkey).
The producers wouldn't comment on the character that Fahey will be playing, but said he was the first and only choice for the role. ''The Lawnmower Man and [the 1995 TV series] The Marshall are personal faves,'' says Cuse. ''And he has the most intense eyes of any guy out there, and I say that as a non-gay man.'' Adds Lindelof: ''Fahey is one of those actors who feels like he fits into the Lost model: He's enormously talented and will be vaguely recognizable to some people, but he'll be able to land on our island without most people going, 'Oh, I know who that guy is.' And especially for the part we cast him for, he has exactly the right sensibilities.''

I think it would be great for a role of Jacob...
...if that picture is any indication of his current look, then yes I agree.
Didn't Jacob have brown eyes? Ofcourse, add some colored contact lenses and he would be perfect!
Brown eyes? All we had to go on with Jacob is his Silhouette how do you get brown eyes from a silhouette?
I think this guy will do great on Lost, loved the LAWNMOWER MAN. Man he got old. lol and Lindelof is right, This guy has some intense eyes... lol
Ken, there was a shot of an eye during Jacob's tantrum scene in the cabin, and the eye was brown. I'm not completely convinced it was Jacob's eye, though. But, Fahey does have lovely eyes!
Oh, thanks Xannie. He probably won't be playing Jacob, since they already cast Jacob, the man on lost we never heard.
He surely looks like he could play Jacob in this pic. But a whole spectrum of other roles is possible. Maybe a captain/leader of Not Penny's Boat, maybe someone else from the island's past or whatever.
Still, great casting choices this season!

I'm pretty sure the Jacob in TMBTC was just a temporal stand-in, just like how the roles of Christian and Penny were cast after their characters first appearances.
And if he is indeed playing Jacob, than I doubt they'd ask him to wear contacts, what with the creators being in love with his eyes.

Last time I looked at a picture of Gerald DeGroot, he had black hair. I am mot sure how old he was in that pic, but this new guy Jeff Fahey could play an older verion of Gerald DeGroot I guess... or he could be a head captain on the Freighter or even Dharma?
I would love to see John Malkovich play Jacob, that would be cool.

I am so torn! Fahey could be a great Jacob, or Peter Stormare could be Jacob too! I can't remmeber if the rumor abour Peter was true or not. I could see him also playing a captain's role- he fits the part. Either way this stuff makes me crazy. How will I make it five more long winter months!!!!!!!

Pyscho 3 actually...lol He was great in Grindhouse....both the Machete trailer and Planet Terror. I just wonde rif we will get that mystery, answered....just how does he make his BBQ??

We saw, or may have seen, Jacobs eye in 3x20, and just the way Carlton mentions it...
I dont know. Its weird none-the-less. I guess he coduld be a Tom replacement (a rugged sailor like we first saw Tom) or even another Patchy!
