Jate is dead? Um no, they break up next week. And romance starts blooming with Jack/Kate. But the triangle IS over after this episode.
Locke sucks.....seriously he needs to lighten up cuz I smell he gets fustrated or something in this episode.

Also, did anyone else find it kind of dumb that Frank didn't mind Miles not coming back. Not liking the guy doesn't account for much if you're getting paid by dangerous people to make sure he is safe. Then again, maybe he is in on it.

seriously... if I was asked to chose a character to be killed, that would be Kate. yeah... what good does she add to this story? furthermore, it only encourage people of making wrong-doings! she won't be convicted! I am so tired of Kate, I want her out.. I hope she dies... and she's a real bitch... people will start not liking her that much as long as she decides to keep fucking around with Jake and Sawyer.
I'm not excited about the Kate flash forward stuff, but I can't wait to see what's next for the people at the barracks and what happens with Desmond and Sayid.

I don't think she is using him. At least not on purpose. She is scared and confused and Sawyer is always offering comfort without asking questions.
And no matter what she feels for Jack (or what she doesn't feel for Jack ;)), she has deep and strong feelings for Sawyer.
But that's just my interpretation.

Will start? I guess you haven't spend much time in the Lost online community in the past 16 months. Kate has lots of haters out there because she has been reduced to a human ping pong ball. I normally wouldn't care but unfortunately, the degradation of Juliet is probably going to start in episode 6 and Claire and Sun don't get anything to do anymore. It's frustrating.

The problem is that the female writers on this show are just bad. Elizabeth Sarnoff was responsible for the epic episode Left Behind, the episode that featured our 2 leading ladies fighting over a guy in the mud. I guess that is her definition of girl power.

To me, the biggest mystery of the island is how Locke keeps his t-shirts looking so crisp.
And since this epi and all its adherent spoiler clips will produce nothing but tired skate/jate debate, let me say for the record that Locke is bein' all flirty an' shit wagging that finger at Kate, and I find it absolutely THRILLING! (We Lockies take it wherever we can get it...)
thats really unfortunate, that elizabeth chick should be fired! who would have thought a woman wrote that! it paints them out to be catty and half retarded. a change really has to be made here, the best show ever is being ruined! serisouly, you watch an ep from season 2 and one from 4, only a couple months have gone by since then on the show, and basically every character has been hacked to shreads, and every reason why i loved some of those characters is gone. if it wasnt for the story itself as a whole being so good i wouldnt watch it, not for the characters anymore, and thats a scary thing to hear myself say. the friegters and ben are becoming the best characters, exuse my language but what the fuck is happening?
Well, one thing that's happening is that they've brought a comic book writer on as one of the main writers. Comics are mainly plot-driven, not character driven, so... Also, while the first season was naturally about getting to know the characters, it makes sense that after that the story would mainly be generated by events. Unfortunately, seasons 2 and 3 were stagnant as hell because without an end date the writers were forced to meander around in plot quicksand, most of which will probably not be very important to the way the story moves from here, and may even be contradicted by the way the story moves from here. Basically, the important parts of 2 and 3 could probably have been condensed in half a season, and so from here on out, everything is going to appear to be moving at lightning speed, when this is actually how things should have been moving since the end of S1.
They are on shaky ground here. But I also think that people who are looking for emotional resonance are going to have to get used to a different rhythm. From now on it's going to be high-impact action and the emotional stuff will result from that, but not be the plot itself. The subtle romantic developments may be out the window.
Which is fine with me, personally, but I can see where others might have a gripe if they're in it for a romance novel experience, rather than a sci-fi comic book one.
its not about the romance though, thats actually still there, its about all the different interactions that every character has with eachother even while the action is taking place, they dont treat eachother the same way anymore, and i cant see any significant event in the story line that would do this to them, thats what i dont understand.
but you cant just change all the already existing characters in your story to accomidate for plot changes, they can adapt according to the aspects of character you have given them since the very beggining, but they cant just change them completely without a damn good reason. every character has had there little moments of self truth, acceptance, and in some cases hatred, they have all gotten to know the other characters, and have been though so many different situations together, and its almost like all of that build up of character has been thrown out the window, so why should all that be forgotten because the story is on a different chapter? im afraid that none of the characters will ever grow or develop the way they were meant to, its like the writers change there minds from season to season on who these characters they have created should be or not be.
Really? To me it's more a matter of the characters making the same mistakes again and Again and AGAIN. Maybe we're concentrating on different characters. It does seem like there are whole episodes devoted to character development that have basically been thrown out the window, probably because they were never that important to the intended trajectory of the show. They were filler. That doesn't mean there wasn't good stuff in there (and bad stuff...Locke as a POT FARMER? Please.), but I doubt at this point the writers are going to be faithful to most of it. In any case, to me the problems were the last 2 seasons, not this one. I'm looking to this one to wipe most of the past 2 away like so much sludge.
hey i liked locke as a pot farmer! haha. yah hopfully they can fix things this season, its still early, but the characters weve actually seen so far (i thought EVERYONE was supposed to be represented in the first few eps) have changed in my opinion. theyve changed significantly since the beggining of season 3. say what you will about season 2 but it was my favorite, favorite character moments wise, and i loved the hatch :)

I love the quicker pacing this season. Instead of over establishing their soap opera characters, they seem to be responding realistically to the new events occuring to them. Change is good and in this case appropriate. The characters seem very much alive (to me at least)during these exciting episodes.
The chance is that I’ll drop dead on the floor when we finally get to the Sawyer- and Kate-scenes. One word about the chemistry between those two: MAGIC!
Finally the end of Skate has arrived. One more effort to watch those two together and then Skate sinks. Can't wait for next week! :)))

TPTB are putting a lot of effort into the scenes of a sinking ship.
The Sawyer and Kate scenes are gorgeous.
