I know that you all have been waiting for a Post Produxtion Scoop but it appears that he is away this week. In it's place we have something a little special for all the DarkUFO readers.
We have managed to obtain, thanks to my source "Minkowski" an advance copy of the Official Lost Podcast featuring Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse in which they discuss tomorrow's episode, The Constant as well a The Other Woman.
It's not hugely spoilery but it's contents should not be discussed outside of this post but feel free to post in the comments below.
Enjoy!

I won't listen to this until after the episode (although maybe I will lol), but way to go Dark on getting this.
Ditto
Dark, you're one amazing dude!
thanks for posting dark, this podcast actually made the episode easier to understand
hey dark, please post the informations about The Other Woman because some people don't want know the big happends of The Constant.... please and Thanks!
I must admit that that's pretty badass.... Kudos. I'm still crushed, but this is certainly a flexing of insider muscles.
Man, I wanna listen....but I'll have to wait till Friday :-(
Ohhh man I want to listen, but alas, I must have some self control...
It no load.
Ok, I gave in...but why are they saying 1994 Desmond when he didn't go into the military until after 1996; remember, FBYE happened in 1996.
Dark, just dont do anything your mom would be embarrassed about to get these spoilies, yet what she doesnt know wont hurt her. You go boy!
Dark,
In their commentary, they talk about old Des from 1994 flashing forward to the year 2004. That can't be because in 2004 Des was in the monestary. It was in 2006 that Des joined the military, which is the point the producers are referring to when old Des flashes forward onto the freighter.
Jeez, for a show that involves time travel, we need to get our dates right, don't you agree?
-bfd
"Yes, there are certain places on the surface of the earth that are special to the show. Tunisia is one of them."
Vile Vortices, anyone?
But then he says Ayers Rock in Australia is one of them, and a quick wikipedia search doesn't show any of the Vortices there. thought?
BFD: Here is the time for Desmond that I pulled together from Lostpedia.
1989 Desmond begins dating Ruth
1995 A week before his wedding to Ruth, Desmond gets drunk and is found in the street by Brother Campbell. Desmond joins the monastery.
1995 Upon being expelled from the monastery, Desmond meets Penelope Widmore
1996 Desmond asks Charles Widmore for his permission to marry his daughter Penny but is refused, meets Charlie busking on a London street and finally breaks up with Penny.
1999 Desmond completes his prison sentence and is dishonorably discharged from the military.
2001 Desmond meets Libby at a coffee shop shortly after arriving in the United States. She loans him her boat.
2001 Penelope tracks down Desmond at the stadium.
2001 Jack meets Desmond at the stadium
2001 Desmond begins the boat race in Libby's boat. ("Live Together, Die Alone")
2001 Desmond arrives on the Island and begins pushing the button with Kelvin Joe Inman.
wow, 24 mins long.....wish I could just skim the maajor facts. Thanks though, Dark.
Thank you Dark!
I enjoyed the Podcast and the jokes about the Zombie season were Damon and Carleton at their best.
it sounds like when desmond goes back in time to his old conscious in the military he tells penny to wait by the phone....was this why she was there or not? im not likin there answer bout ms. hawkins
So does the 1994 Desmond moving forward in time to when he arrives on the freighter mean that the desmond he thinks he is has no relation to the flashbacks, which are him in the army?
Because he wasnt in the army till late 1996 as he was studying the army poster in FBYE's and that was 1996!
I cant work out why the writers would bring another period of desmonds life into what sounds like a very complicated episode!
My best guess is Damon meant 1996 instead of 94, but i guess it should (hopefully) be clearer tomorrow!
Sorry, I am not happy about the time travel thing. I think lost has jumped the shark.
Lots of people tuned out after the whole Ms. Hawkings thing-guess they didnt get the message or maybe I am a minority here.
Thanks DarkUFO great scoop hope we get post productions sysnosis back nexted week. After listening to this am still very confused and it sounds like after watching it am going be even more confused than i am already.
Feed the beast Dark! You're the master of disaster!
Well...this just made my head hurt
bfd,
as posted above the time line with Desmond is a great overview of his history. but just to throw something else in, this whole story is taking place in 2004. Remember the plane crashed in sept. of '04, and they've been on the island for 100 days or so. so him joining the monestary in '06 is completely out of the question. 2006 is still 2 years in the future for the show.
any news on the other woman in it? it won't play for me :(
It seems pretty clear to me that the time travel element referenced in this podcast points to a Daoist theory of time, where all time is now and the past and future all coexist at the same time, which is now. A very weird, non-linear notion to wrap your mind around, I know.
The second thought is that it could also be like Billy Pilgrim in Slaughterhouse Five, where BP has come "unstuck" in time. Desmond and Minkowski are slipping up and down their timelines within the time shell of the freighter's present day. So 1994 Desmond is with 2003 Minkowski on the 2004 freighter, or something like that. Except Mink seems to have some awareness of the phenomenon, whereas Des in completely overwhelmed by it.
I REALLY like how this podcast clarifes that the show is not double dealing with paradoxes. So all the Groundhog Day theorists can shut those down pronto. No alternate realities, no alternate universes, no paradoxes.
As far as the potential for Vile Vortices, I still see that as a valid theory. Perhaps it doens't conform to the Wikipedia definition of what those places are. LOST probably used creative license to create certain "special places" that are connected somehow, including Ayers Rock, a spot in Tunisia and LOST island.
I agree with bongzilla that the removal of the paradox question is a major issue to get out of the way, and it really satisfies me that they won't look for a cheap escape out of all the mysteries.
In my view, the writers had two options:
1. go way over the heads of a lot of people with the science and complex explanations (i.e., time travel) but make it interesting for those of us who demand a certain level of plausibility.
2. Dumb down the science to make it palatable for the masses, annoying the hell out of all of us who have been playing around with sophisticated theories.
The choice of the first option became clear when they acknowledged the great physicists and philosophers (Hawking, Locke, Hume, Faraday, etc.). I'm sure lost related ideas will be discussed in many a college physics class...
What the heck would we do without you, Dark?! I'd be a mess.
Thanks for this!
ya! I don't want to know how you get some of the things you get. I'm listening to it because I think tonight's episode is going to be one of those you HAVE to watch twice to understand.
Thanks Dark, but I sure miss Post Production!
Did anyone notice how lindelof said 'If you don't already hate us' when referring to the ending of the series. I am sure they already know how the series will end but I got the feeling from that little comment that it might not be a happy ending. Or maybe I heard that out of context..lol
Cloud43, I just assumed that they meant ,"You can't please all the people all the time", kind of thing.
But now that you mentioned a possible unhappy ending ,you got me worried too....lol
I haven't haard anything yet, but I think that the series will end with Locke forming a new "Others" group and anther plane will crash on the island and history will repeat itself. Oops.
"If you don't completely hate us" lol
I can imagine the pressure this guys have to create a satisfying end for such a great show...
What could be an unhappy endind? Everybody dead? One reason more to watch zombie season :D
So Daniel's memory problems are probably pre-existing condition, right?
Good thing they realized everybody likes Daniel, so I hope they don't kill him off.
You outdid yourself Dark... Podcast for The Constant before The Constant. Great :)
Thanks!
i'm going to say something about what was said, so anyone who's waiting to listen (but looking and posting in comments anyways, *eyeroll*) don't read further.
i'm just really happy they put to bed the oceanic 8 thing. no one cares who the dead two are, it's a lie, a sham, and not worth exploring! love it, love it, thank you, thank you!!!!!
lol you should've waited to post this. Just listened to it, how could they forget which year Desmond was flashing from? It was 1996, not 1994.
Does anyone know how to ask damon and carlton questions that get read on the podcast? They never give an email address to send the questions too.
I don't know if it is allready said, but the answer about 'special places on earth related to our show' kinda confirms that the hollow earth theory (or how is it called? The theory with the teleportation or vortex spots on earth, with the oceanic logo looking very much like the logo of the theory)
Nice!

Kris White gives the info in many of the podcasts. I don't think it's an email address, but a forum- the Lost forum on the ABC web site.
Did anyone else hear Darlton say that Eggtown was given that name because much of it had to do with Kate's pregnancy??? Not "the possibility that Kate might be pregnant" but "KATE'S PREGNANCY!"
