''Meet Kevin Johnson'' is the eighth episode of Lost's fourth season and the last episode that was filmed before the Writers Guild of America went on strike for three months. The good news is that the strike is over and the show is back at work; at present, cast and crew are shooting the ninth episode. The bad news is that we'll have to wait until April 24 to see it. (Curse you, post-production demands!) The slightly worse news is that when our mutual obsession comes back next month, it will air at 10 p.m., a brutal time slot for people like me, whose glittering mental carriage morphs back into a moldy pumpkin at exactly 10:01 p.m. So relish this, the last installment of the year to air at a sane hour. It promises to be a dynamite chapter in the unfolding Lost saga, according to executive producer Damon Lindelof:
''Yes, you'll find out a lot about Michael. But you'll ALSO learn why bearded Jack was unable to jump. AND where the Others are holed up. AND, according to those silly promos, apparently someone dies, too.''
The promise of additional intrigue about Grizzly Jack's flash-forward despair in an episode that would APPEAR to be about Michael? Curious. I want to see this thing NOW (which for me is Monday morning, not your present Thursday time-space coordinate, so you can understand my impatience).

...you'll ALSO learn why bearded Jack was unable to jump....
OMG!
we are getting a jack FF! *makes the boogie dance*
*makes the boogie dance with Luthien*
:D
but if damon meant 408; then does that mean jack will appear in Micheal's FF?
i thought his episode will be a FB episode... but maybe it will be a mixture of both FB's and FF's...
I believe they shot a scene with Michael driving in a FF. Maybe he is the person involved in the accident and thats why Jack doesnt jump!
I think maybe we'll learn that the island doesn't let you commit suicide and we won't actually see bearded Jack. Not that I'd complain if we did of course
Whoa. Sounds intriguing.
Why bearded Jack was unable to jump - A lot of things come to mind here, but for some reason, I can't help but think it has something to do with Claire. That said, it doesn't make that much sense, as this is a Michael-centric episode.
OMG! I'm very ansious to see that!
A Jack's FF?!?!?!?! I can't wait!!!
Something better than this, just a JACK AND KATE FF, together!!!
---island doesn't let you commit suicide---
interesting thoughts iorwen...
ok here's a theory:
michael is the guy in the coffin... jack finds michael in the future (before TTLG) and he thinks that michael is his last chance to find the island... but before michael could help jack, he dies...
according to the newspaper, the guy in the coffin had commited suicide but what if he had been murdered? maybe someone (ben, hanso, widmore...?) wanted to stop Michael before he tells jack how to get back to the island...
that explains why jack was so devasted and why he said the guy in the coffin was neither a friend nor family... it also explains why the funeral was in an african-american neighborhood...
^ It's a flashback, Luthien.
"But you'll ALSO learn why bearded Jack was unable to jump."
Come again? I think in tonight's episode we're gonna learn something huge! Time travel or Orchid's bunnies? Or both?
Is it related to Michael's "I'm here to dye"? (lol @ crikey again :)
oh i know its a flashback! my theory was not for this episode ;)...
but it also doesnt make sense how a bearded jack would fit in a Michael FB! LOL!
hmmm
I guess we'll see hat Michael goes through after he returns home, and his reasons for wanting to return to the island.
This will bring up parallels with Jack wanting to "get back" hence we'll learn a bit more about the reasons behind them wanting to get back.
I don't think we'll actually see bearded Jack, though I could be wrong...
I am confused. I thought this was supposed to have a Michael flashback. But we'll see a bearded Jack, which would mean flashforward. Whatever happens, it sounds like a great episode, and I REALLY want to learn what happened to Michael. I still think Ben sent him back in time when he told him to go to a specific place to leave. Maybe that's how Mr. Friendly caught up with him in NY. It sounds crazy, and I think it'll be an awesome episode.
Or how about this....
Time travelling Michael does all these things to make sure everyone ends up on the plane...
In the past -
Knocks Locke over in the mall car park with his Golden Pontiac
Knocks Michael over in new york with his Golden Pontiac
Crashes into Kate after she escapes from the hostpital in his Golden Pontiac
Somehow causes the crash between Sarah and Adam Rutherford (possibly in his magical Golden Pontaic)
In the present -
Tracks down Anthony Cooper and slams into the back of him in his Golden Pontiac
In the future -
Causes the crash on the bridge, which stops bearded JAck from killing himself.(Michael is in his time travelling Golden Pontiac also)
Man that time travelling Michael's been busy!!!!!!
(the above would possibly explain how he was responsible for stopping Jack jump off the bridge!)
webbsta, your scenario sounds very exciting and incredibly informative, probably way more than the episode will be :) And I should add that I think Michael knows his own fate "death" thanks to Ben.
Or how about Michael when leaving the island and returning to NY got off the island in 2007 because of the time displacement that occurs when you don't follow the correct bearing.
He followed a bearing of 325, who knows how far he could have jumped into the future. So this would account for him being the man in the coffin.
I always thought that the reason Jack couldn't jump was because a car accident happened under his nose and you know Jack, if somethin' needs fixin'...
I'm guessin' there's more to the people involved in that crash.
But seriously, after all we've heard about 'Meet Kevin Johnson'...how the hell are they gonna cram all these things into one episode?! The mind boggles.
Doc Jensen's latest at EW claims that Aaron is definitely one of the Oceanic 6. Jack said that 8 of them survived the crash. Aaron wasn't born before the crash.
That means that only 5 of the 6 O6 have been accounted for.
DarkUfo and Doc Jensen need to explain how that makes any sense if Aaron is the final member of the O6.
yeah but tecnically he was in the plane LOL
It dosen't matter if 500 people survived the crash, you're only Oceanic 6 if you make it back to civilization.
I also think that somehow those that leave the island cannot die at their own hand....that whole universal course correction thing. Michael has to come back to the island to complete whatever his "mission" is in order to die.
We probably won't see Jack actually, just get the reasoning behind why he couldn't kill himself. If he had jumped, there would have been some miracle to save him! That would explain the excessive drinking...imagine not being able to die if you really want to.
LUTHIEN Your money!!! I do believe you have made a real accurate post. I was about to post the very same theory. I would say this is very possible.
It dosen't matter if 500 people survived the crash, you're only Oceanic 6 if you make it back to civilization.
So two died and they arbitrarily left one behind? I seriously doubt that.
what? The reason Jack was unable to jump was because of the accident. He was going to jump until the accident caught his attention. Maybe they mean we will learn why he was going to jump. Or maybe this quote is fabricated or doesn't completely apply to this episode.
Jack doesn't even need to be in the episode for them to explain why he didn't jump. My guess is that post-island living almost destoyed Michael as well, and also tried to commit suicide.
My lamer thoery would be that well find out more information on the woman (maybe someone we already know) who was distracted by Jack on the bridge.
I don't necessarily think that Jack will appear in the flashback. . . I think perhaps this will have more to do with the island course-correcting to make sure that people who have a larger role to play are prevented from killing themselves. In that case, the car crash happened to prevent Jack from jumping. Perhaps Michael tries to commit suicide and something stops him or Ben lets something slip on the island when the freighters attack the camp and someone who should have died doesn't (like the phantom bullets in Pulp Fiction).
AND, according to those silly promos, apparently someone dies, too.
The way this is worded makes me think the person who dies is not a major character. So Claire must be safe!
Bearded Jack didn't jump because of the car crash that happened on the bridge causing him to climb down and pull the woman and child out of the car.
Now, what caused the car crash???
Am I missing something?
Where in that episode was there anything got to do with Jack?
Nicole, the island stopped Jack from jumping off the bridge. Just like Michael couldn't kill himself because he has work to do.. so does Jack.
