I just get so excited watching Harold act. He's definitely in the top tier on the show. I know..."waalllllt!!" but Harold is just AWESOME.
The whole sort of tortured man that he played at the end of S2 was awesome.
I agree. Harold is a great actor, I loved him in Oz.
I think the next episode will be HUGE.
As a father, I enjoy seeing Michael struggle to do what he thinks is best for his son. Would I go to the lengths that Michael has, I don't think so, but I never had the Others kidnap my son off of a boat.
I just hope that Sawyer and Hugo forgive him.
"a lot of information"!! YEAH!!
Okay what is the deal with Kris, who does the openings for the viedeo podcasts?? He's so creepy!
blackrobbob we're in the same boat.
I sympathized with Michael and I don't understand why people hate him because he's a murderer. Every main character on the show aside from Boone and Claire is a murderer, whether they actually killed or tried to kill.
Jack - Would have killed Locke if gun was loaded
Kate - Duh
Sawyer - Duh
Ana Lucia - Man who shot her
Sayid - Duh
Hurley - Pryce
Charlie - Ethan
Shannon - Would've killed Locke if she didn't miss
Nikki/Paolo - Razzle Dazzle
Eko - Duh
Bernard - 4-5 Others
So why is Michael different?
muscle_bob:
I'm with you 100%--I think Michael had a sort of "descent into madness" arc that freaked people out, especially since that was back when Ben was just full-on evil, seemingly. So maybe the impact was a little harsher.
I'm glad you pointed out, too, that Bernard did plan to, and help to, kill a few others. Yeah, it was a defensive thing, but so was Locke's killing of Naomi, which is why I found his "karma" speech on last night's fishing trip a bit holier-than-thou. How is Locke's killing Naomi any worse than, say, Charlie's killing Ethan or Jack's attempted kill of Locke? I hope that "karma" line was just meant to show Jin that his getting' cuckholded was a result of his own crap...because otherwise...silly.
I mean I can argue that Locke's killing of Naomi was drastically different than Charlie's killing of Ethan (and maybe even different than Jack's attempted killing of Locke).
Locke threw a knife at Naomi's back w/ out provocation. Naomi wasn't armed and didn't in any way indicate that she could or would harm them.
Charlie killed Ethan in cold blood - yes. But Ethan tried to kill Charlie by hanging him from a tree...the agression on charlie's part is at least justified(if you look at it from "an eye for an eye" point of view).
Jack and Locke...they have a history. Jack would have been unjustified in killing him (but clearly anger and revenge) were a huge part of the motivation.
Aside from trying to call her boat - what did Naomi do? Locke had no just cause. He could have tried to disarm her of the phone...I dunno. I see it as different.
As for Michael - we've seen people do things they wouldn't normally do in order to survive (and attain their goal). Depserate people will do desperate things. I think Michael and Locke's murders were very similar...though equally misguided.
Bernard I think would have the same reaction to Michael as he would to Locke and I can understand why. And I do understand his good vs evil point of view. HIs karma comment was largely trying to tell Jin to see the bigger picture, but there is some truth to his statement.
Locke was told by Taller Ghost Walt that she meant them harm. Just like Tom + the other enforcers were coming to take the women. Locke was totally justified and acting to protect them, as we'll learn in coming weeks, I'm sure.
Taller Ghost Walt isn't the most competent source for killing someone, but again that's just me. Locke's gonna probably end of getting played again, and he's gonna be getting pretty close to a mutiny if he's not careful.
Lately it seems some of my comments aren't getting displayed. I posted a message around where Christine did and I swear it was in here before. Oh well, just checking with this message, kind of frustrating.
That host IS a creepball.
What happened to the video podcast with the prop guy?
Killing people who are coming to kidnap you is quite different than killing your friends to fulfill some sick contract. michael crossed a line when he shot ana-lucia and libby. if you were meant to sympathize with michael, his story would be over. obviously we were meant to dislike him for his actions, or he wouldn't be returning for his redemption.
I like Harold Perrineau, and I like Michael, It was super, when I saw him in new episode:)))
Jack - tried to kill Locke after Locke demonstrated what a danger he was to the group
Kate - killed the man who abused her and her mother
Sawyer - killed a man in his personal revenge quest against the real Sawyer
Ana Lucia - Killed the man who tried to kill her, killed Shannon accidentally
Sayid - Killed the man who tried to have Nadia murdered
Hurley - Killed an Other in defence of the group.
Charlie - Killed Ethan, who had attacked/kidnapped Claire, and left Charlie for dead
Shannon - tried to kill Locke for causing Boone's death
Nikki/Paolo - Killed the old guy, but were "bad people" and got their comeuppance
Eko - Killed lots of people and got his comeuppance
Bernard - Killed Others in defence of the group
=========
Muscle_Bob_Buff_Pants - all of the above were characters killing defensively, carrying out revenge against people who had (or at least they thought) committed a greater wrong.
Michael killed Ana and Libby in a cold, calculating manner. He did it for Walt, but allowed himself to be manipulated into it by Ben, without even trying to double-cross him or find another way to rescue his son.
Most importantly, he betrayed his friends, people who had trusted him. The murders he carried out are far worse than what any of the other Losties have done (at least on the island - Nikki and Paulo deserved what they got, but I think most people would rather just forget those two characters entirely).
micheal killed because of the defense of his son.
what makes micheals killings of 815 survivors different than jack's attempted killing of locke a fellow 815 survivor.
most of the other killing were personal vendettas while micheals murders were for another person, his son. if kate can kill her father becuase of her mothers safety, why cant micheal kill for walts safety? and micheal killed virtually strangers where as kate killed her father.
i think people are mad because he killed libby and we all need more libby
I love Harold so much! Next week is going to be AAAA-MAAA-ZINGGG
faruk718 hit the nail on the head there. Also like other people have said it was in cold blood. What p****d me off was that libby was geeting intresting and hurley diserved to be happy...but that was taken away.
The guy that intros these podcasts is better heard than seen, he really creeps me out. He looks like Eric from Big Brother, the eyebrow movements and the popped out eyes, he has too many facial tics. Sorry I had to get that off my chest, lol.
No, I'm totally with you, tonilost!! He totally creeps me out. His eye movements are way over the top, like he's trying too hard. They need to get a new host, for sure.
Actually that guy Chris's expressions are hilarious rather than scary....Worth a good laugh..lol~~~!!!
