Nestor is such a great actor, I love his role as Alpert.
LOL, "i'm a genius"
So happy we will see Richard Alpert this season. He has been missed and is important to island story. Nestor is wonderful actor.
So I guess this confirms Michael won't die this season? I hope he doesn't die next episode because that would be a waste.
Hopefully he and Nestor will sign on as regulars next season.
Interesting... this seems to suggest that Michael went back in time when he left the island. A time when Mr. Friendly is still alive. Friendly is probably the guy who deliver's Ben's message... that he must be a Spy on the boat. Why? Probably to do with saving Walt. It would explain why Walt is older, too.
It seems like all the ideas of copies of people are falling apart... It seems the 815 in the ocean was just planted there, and Mr. Friendly's meeting with Walt was actually in the past. Now, we just have to figure out whats with those darn bunnies.
michael- Mr Friendly WAS alive when Michael left the island. in fact, when friendly died, Michael must have already been on the freighter right off the island, because friendly only died like a week ago, island time. i don't think there was time travel involved the Michael meeting Friendly at all.
I wonder if Libby's ghost is going to be haunting Michael in his FB, urging him to return to the island (sort of like Charlie telling Hurley he has to go back).
4 dead characters? Tom... 2 others and Libby...? I think that Libby's appearance will suck seriously if she's a ghost ala Charlie... if she appear alive in Michael fb like she's "one of them" and he killed her by mistake... that would be awesome...
Naomi, Minkowski, Libby, Tom
Why didn't michael, walt, sawyer and jin experience the side effects when they left on the raft?

Yes, this is very true. when michael left, the others were still wearing fake beards and dressing like hillbilly pirates. i don't understand how tom was able to go visit michael in the real world when he was right there in the first episode of season 3 ("it only took the bears an hour"). i'm trying to remember if there was a big arc where tom wasn't present. he was there, i'm pretty sure through everything - taking desmonds ship, the funeral, the surgery, going back to the barracks. Perhaps there is a door, either in a place like the temple for example, or freestanding with no walls like in "the drawing of the three". thinking back over similarities between lost and the dark tower, perhaps the island is the equivalent of the rose, and if it dies (whatever its heart is is destroyed) the world ends, so kelvin's comment about saving the world by pushing the button might have been right on.
how is alpert a baddie
"i'm trying to remember if there was a big arc where tom wasn't present."
He was absent for these episodes (ignoring any absences in the first six episodes as it's pretty much implied he's on the Hydra the whole time, despite there being a few episodes not concentrating on it):
Flashes Before Your Eyes (let's ignore this one, too, as most characters simply didn't appear in this one).
Tricia Tanaka Is Dead - Enter 77 (but appears at the end of Enter 77 playing football with Jack, so I'm ignoring this, as well).
Exposé - D.O.C
^ He is missing for five episodes here, which is the most logical time he can travel to and from the island...but these dates are only 20 days or so before we know of the freighter, so Michael must have made a really quick, huge bullshitting lie to get a place on the boat that quick.
I still call 'time-travel'.
@hostilefreighter
"Why didn't michael, walt, sawyer and jin experience the side effects when they left on the raft?"
What I understand is that you only can leave the island (giant snowglobe) on the exact bearing of 325 degrees. Same happend to Desmond and he didn´t experienced any timetravels by then,
And probably the raft was only a couple of miles off the island (max 15 nm). They were merely sailing but drifting with the tide. Maybe I´m wrong, but that´s how I figured it out for myself.
Aw come on, kill Michael......they'd have to do a LOT to make him a good guy again.
Nestor Carbonell starred in the new Batman film: The Dark Knight as the Mayor. UK Release July 25th 2008. Maybe that's why he's classed as a baddie? lol
He's a fantastic actor. It will be great to have him back on our lost screens again!! & I think he will be a definate regular come Season 5due to The Purge!!
Dear Hostilefreighter, the raft people had not been exposed to radiation, therefore did not experience time travel illnesses.
Daniel talks about this with Desmond in "the Constant"
and there could have been Mr Friendly gap times after Jack left the others camp, before they made a move against Locke/Lockes Dad, and during some of the time we were focused on Charlie in the looking glass, and them first finding naomi. maybe. i can't remember when we saw him, and when we didn't.
i guess we'll find out soon!
Oh come on! Richard aint the badguy type......I mean sure sure he participated in the purge but he doesn't seem the bloodthirsty type.
saraH, once again...
The only logical time he could have been gone (ie - time when he was not implied to be somewhere else when the whole episode was focussed around somewhere he was not, like "Further Instructions" back at the beach camp when he was implied to be in the Hydra or "Flashes Before Your Eyes" which was focussed almost entirely within Desmond's past) was between "Expose" and "The Brig" (made a mistake saying "D.O.C" last time, but he only appeared in "The Brig" in Locke's flashbacks).
This gives Tom around 10 days (ie - "Exposé" is on day 81 and "The Brig" is on day 91) to get to an from New York. But that isn't the unlikely part.
Let's say that Tom WAS able to get to New York within a day. That'd mean his encounter with Michael was on day 82/83. Fine, right?
Well, even then, that'd give Michael only 14 or so days to get on board the freighter and shake Sayid's hand in "Ji Yeon" (which was on day 97). In fact, considering that Naomi landed on the island herself on day 86, let's assume that this is the latest that the freighter could arrive.
The earliest Tom could have met Michael: Day 82.
The latest the freigher would be circling the island: Day 86.
So are you telling me that Tom was able to travel to Michael and get him on the freighter within four days, getting him the full trust of a very sinister group of people?
Hells no. Time travel must be involved.
Either that or writers will make a bad excuse that Tom was able to leave in an earlier episode, even though it was previously pretty much obvious that he was in the Hydra/playing football with Jack and they've just gone back on previous "where everyone DEFINITELY was at the time" logistics just to suit a new, quickly-put-together plot.
I, for one, think Richard is a goodie!
we certainly don't know much about Richard! i'd really be interested in his back story!
Make your own kind of the music:)))
Andrew sparks said-
"So are you telling me that Tom was able to travel to Michael and get him on the freighter within four days, getting him the full trust of a very sinister group of people?"
no way man. i'm telling you that Island Time told the people on the island that Sayid and Des were gone for HOURS when the freighter people (ie- non island time) thought that it only took half an hourish to get to the freighter.
time is not the same! you can't measure Island days with Non Island days!
do you see what i'm saying?
