Do you remember when Saywer hallucinated in the hatch back in S2? Jack was looking after him in a scene and Sawyer said 'he loved her' (Kate).
Well, do you think Sawyer was ungrateful to Jack? I don't think so! And neither do you! I think he was hallucinating, he didn't even know who was sitting next to him and his emotions and feelings just got free they way they were.
Same for Jack. He's hallucinating and because he's in love with Kate, she is the person he wants near him.

omg!! first i have said on numerous occasions that i like jack, and i have defended him alot on this site so if that was aimed partly at me you should get your facts straight.
secondly, no matter how you spin it, its still not a nice thing to say to juliet. ok, i realise that jack is ill, but do you jaters have no sympathy for juliet? she must be heartbroken.

I've never liked Jack till Juliet appeared. So when Juliet is away again, I really doubt I'm going to like him anymore. But I'm really growing to love Sawyer. I've never thought about him this way, but he is the real hero now.
Apparently Jack suffers from his appendix but...the way he seems to faint A LOT during this episode, does anybody think as me that Jack could be experiencing "side effects" and in fact be time-travelling in this episode? Results of such time-travelling would be seen later on...
I completely agree with Isabelle.
Jack is not for sure this noble guy if he tells to Juliet that he wants Kate.In a way or another he gives to Juliet something who can make feel loved by him.He kissed her and he was ready to fight with Ben for her.It's not a simple gesture,it's an important thing.
Comparing this with Sawyer's "i love her" in front of Jack is not for sure the same thing.Sawyer and Jack are not involved together:-) and Sawyer was uncoscious and he was talking about Kate in front of a man who hasn't done anything to prove that he wanted Kate.When Sawyer was not around even in season 2,he could have done something and the same was for Kate,but neither of them has done anything to do something.To show that they love each other.And still they don't do it.Jack has told Kate that he loves her and that "romantic" way and then 4 days later he's so into Juliet,leaving even injured Kate behind.
So Jack has failed in this case.He's not a gentleman and for sure if he breaks Juliet's heart,who really loves him,I will never forgive him.

Just don't think that the episodes are gonna play the way you want too. Because what you shouldn't do is believe that Jack said "I want Kate" in the context you thought. That line has been cut.

Juliet always knew she was a third wheel. Remember the glass scene? "I'll give you two some privacy" LOL! There is a triangle, but Juliet is not in it.
Anyways, i can't way for this Jack episode revolving around Kate. After an episode called The Shape Of things To Come starting with a Jate scene, who knows what's next? :)

It really diminishes Jack to show him hung on a woman who consistently lies to him. Kate is the most remorseless character on the show (except for Ben), but Jack's willing to overlook all that because why? I guess being hot gets you a free pass even with smart guys like Jack.

Simply because now is the time when these to charachters mirror each other. One is falling and the other is rising! It's impossible not to compare them right now, and I believe thats what the writers wants us to do.

sanna, got to admit Locke is a disappointment. The man didn't lift one finger to help Sawyer and Claire get inside. If not for Hurley, he would have left them outside to die. And previously he acted like he cared for both of them. He also drew a gun on Sawyer because he wanted Hugo to come with them and Locke needs Hurley to find the cabin, since apparently Jacob doesn't wish to see Locke. If pushed, Locke would have shot Sawyer just to use Hurley as a pawn to find Jacob so he could impart some island wisdom to him.

As a matter of fact, the title says it all: The Shape of Things to Come.
We see Ben loose his daughter and from now on he is after revenge on Widmore, the war on the island starts, Sayid teams up with Ben in the FF, Jack is falling and start taking pills and Sawyer saves Claire and rises as the new leader/hero.
It would be odd if we didn't talk about the differences between them right now.

Maybe, but we havn't seen that yet, have we:P Last time I checked the brave doc was in fetal position at the beach and in the FF he was a suicidal drunk which the woman he loves tried to stay as far away from as possible. Just like his ex wife;)

yes, it means i liked jack before the promo and i still like him. however, i dislike the way he was with juliet just then. i was harsh to juliet who has showed that she has feelings for him and i think that was insensitive of jack.
Obviously we don't know yet how the scene will be.What I know is that Jack feels something for Juliet,he cares about her and personally I believe that it is a potential between them.But Jack loves Kate,in a way that I dislike a lot and that it's hard actually to understand to me,because there's only one man who really loves Kate for who she is and unconditionally:James Ford.
And whatever happens in episode 10, Jack in the future still loves Kate and this makes me feel as Jack and Juliet won't last.And since I believe that Juliet does love Jack,she will suffer a lot.And she doesn't deserve it.If Jack wanted Kate he had to have another attitude since the beginning.

Kate's Jack's second in command and she is always been loyal to Jack.
About Sawyer,yes he's been awesome expecially because what he's done was for Hurley,Claire and Aaron.Till now there is been just Kate.And I believe that it's good if Kate and Sawyer are separated for a little.they need it.But of course they will see each other again and I can't wait for that moment.
Yes, I love Juliet and right now I feel bad for her if she loves Jack and he keeps asking for Kate. All though, I'm not so sure we can trust Juliet. I wouldn't be surprised if The Great Finale Kiss turns out to be between her and Ben. She will do everything to get off the island, including betray the losties, it would "complicate the triangle" and it would explain why Jack doesn't seem to miss her in the Flash forwards.

when you like a character you see the good in that character not that i mean you cant possibliy dislike anything he/she does (i had my moments where jack annoyed me in the past) but before you start critizing a character (for example because of a 2 secs shot in a promo) you come up with a little more positive guesses...
personally the only good thing you said about jack so far was that you dont hate him! but when it comes to criticizing or mocking i cant see the difference between you and some other person who dislikes jack!

i am a sawyer fan first and foremost, and i wouldnt even consider myself an actual jack fan, but that doesnt mean i dont like him. i like rose, bernard, sun, jin, sayid but i wouldnt consider myself as a fangirl for each of these characters. i can take them or leave them. jack ranks higher than those characters in my faves list but i dont love him, nor am i blind to his flaws.
and fyi - i say positive things about jack all the time. if you are that interested, then go through all the comments sections of the poll relating to jack. i have said many nice things about him. and in the comments section on page 2 of the spoilers (the one that has over 300 comments) i have said many nice things about him there too. so get your facts straight before you start throwong accusations around.

in case you interpreted what i said in a different way to what i meant, i'll clarify.
i think that the fact that he was taking medication in that ep was a forshadowing of whats to come, the drug habit. and his health in the next episode is bad, and with the drugs and alcohol in the future, his health aint great then either. i think from now onwards, he will start to downfall as it seems every character goes through this process going from a bad time to a good time. since we saw jacks bad time slap bang in the middle of it, i was estimating that this is when it all begins, although i could be wrong.
and he will probably get better (drink and drug wise) when he finds a way back to the island, but its just a thought.

not sure if this was directed to me, but i wasnt picking apart jack. i was trying to estimate when his drug habbit may begin. i think jack is a great leader (even when he is ill probably - lol), and a great character so i dont get any pleasure out of picking on jack. however, i do like to anayse all my favourite characters. cant help it, i'm a psychology student. lol. :)

The difference between Sawyer and Jack is that Jack is the leader of a group and he's born to be a leader.Sawyer is just a man who just want to protect the people around him because it's like a family.And it's been a low development for Sawyer.Because at the beginning there was just Kate,who is still his reason,but now there are other people and these people are part of his "family".I'm not saying that Jack doesn't care about the people around him,not at all,just the reasons are different.And for the record,I believe that Kate doesn't need an hero,but a man who's equal to her and that man is Sawyer to me.
You don't need to explain, I got you the first time. It's still funny to me, and if you were on the other side of things you'd see the humor in it.
You see Jack finally getting some sort of character depth in season 4 because he popped a few antibiotics, and that of course is foreshadowing his future prescription drug use. Jack had a substance abuse problem long before crashing on that Island. He is an alcoholic-IMO clinically depressed, but that doesn't make him some sort of fallen hero. Jack has been slipping since day 1, but something inside him makes him want to save others. I know many anti-jack fans like to point out how he is selfish and how he's not a hero-well he is one. He is flawed as all hell, but that's what I find intriguing about him. I think all of the O6 made some sort of huge selfish choice when they leave the island-it doesn't make them bad people, it just makes them human. (fictional human anyways) Jack will redeem himself in the end, and I just hope I can ignore all the negative stuff from haters long enough to enjoy how well MF handles the material.
Oh and I don't mean to pick you out of the pack everytime, but you're always on that fence of i like jack, but. Personally I like Sawyer, and I never place a but after it.

That's exactly what I was getting at, he told her directly in even stronger terms almost a season ago and the triangle hasn't evolved one bit since. In fact, since Jack told her he loved her, she's been back to lay in Sawyer's bed once (an encounter during which Sawyer asked her to stay with him - a statement of equal gravity considering Sawyer's caginess with his emotions) and probably would have made repeated trips if it wasn't for that inconsiderate war getting in the way of the indecisivness she so enjoys :/
I cringe when I see shippers of one persuasion tearing apart the male figure on the opposition side. The way I see it, the lil' manipulator in the middle ain't getting her fair share of flak.

i agree that he isnt a fallen hero - he is a hero, but i dont think he has been slipping since day one, or at least, not that i noticed. i think the moment he started slipping was when he nearly killed locke. jack was stressed in season 1 to 3, i get that, but he handled it really well so i wouldnt say he has been slipping since day 1. i never noticed that jack had a substance abuse problem before the crash. maybe i just didnt notice, but i always thought it occurred after they o6 return home cos he cant get back to the island :)

Sorry I didn't understand you:-)yes Kate is a very complicated character and sometimes it can be really understand her.But she's my favourite character and I try always to understand her attitudes.Of course sometimes she's wrong but I believe that she's trying to make both of her relationships with these two men as better as she could.because these relationships are really different.But Kate has a big issues with Kate most of all.Untill she doesn't accept herself and who she is,she will never be capable to make things works.But it seems that with Aaron she's doing a great work IMO.
In "Eggtown" she was really serious about having babies with Sawyer to me,she woke him up in that sweet and romantic way as just a woman in love can do and when Sawyer didn't understand,she was really hurt.And if could see Sawyer now?:-)He's been perfect in this episode.She would be proud of him.
In the end it's what the storytellers make of him anyway, and they have chosen their alpha male reluctant hero figure and they keep telling it's Jack.
And I personally laugh at the image of Jack going ah screw it I'm sick and I'm gettin' off this island dude! He's still all about how promised and how he will do everything to keep it.
I don't mind Sawyer as the hero cos let's face it poor other Losties are left on the island with Ben, Locke and Smokey and possibly some freighties. Sawyer doesn't believe Locke anymore, hates Ben and has been the first to taste a bit of true freighter hate. He needs to grow up and drop the books and board games anyway. Took him long enough. He needs to take charge, or I fear for Claire. I mean she's Christian's daughter, I wouldn't wanna be Claire when Locke finds out about that and Christian being the one keeping Jacob company.

omg! are you serious? i take it comments being censured is bad, but what exactly happened?? i dont know exactly what it is as it has never happened to me. i have said worse things about jate and jaters have said worse things about skate, but those comments dont get censured. i am reluctant to say ths site is biased cos i dont wanna get banned or anything, but why did your comment get censured??? :)

He has a drink in almost every flashback--including the pilot where he was getting sauced before the whole crash thing sobered him up. I can't change what you've seen or taken from seeing Jack scenes since the beginning. Shooting Locke would have killed him too, had it actually happened. There was plenty of build up to get him to that point. Speaking of points, I'm sure I had one..however it has escaped me. YEA JACK!

I think it's quite obvious that most Jack & Kate fans are always going to hate Juliet with a passion but at least be grateful that she saves your hero's life. If it weren't for her, Jack would be dead and you would have nothing to ship anymore. I might not like Jack but I was always grateful that he saved Sawyer's life on several occasions.
That said, if Jack suddenly tells Juliet that he wants Kate romantically after he lead her on, I'm gonna dislike him even more than I do now. And please, this situation isn't in the least bit comparable to what Sawyer did in season 2. Jack and Sawyer weren't a couple and Sawyer never lead Jack on in a romantic manner.
I just noticed that the prospect of Jack suddenly telling Juliet that he wants Kate in some kind of delirious state is quite similar to a sick Clark Kent asking for Lana after Chloe revealed her feelings by reading out a letter to him in Fever. Why does this always happen to my favorite female characters on various TV shows? I guess it's because I just can't stand "Mary Sueish" female characters who are the center of love triangles like Lana Lang or Kate.
I think either Sayer or Frank will kill Keamy & possibly his goons so Sawyer & co can protect Aaron.

I don't know about Smallville but believe me that at least for me, I truly detest Juliet, with or without Jack!
The thing is that I can't visually stand the character and I guess the actress too. This makes me biased of course because whatever she does or says, she gets on my nerves!
This said, whatever happens on the show is fine by me, Skate or Jacket and a little bit of Jate too. I have fun shipping Jate and I like their story arc together but I wouldn't be upset if these two didn't end up together...it's quite likely to happen!
As for my comparison with Sawyer hallucinating about Kate while Jack was looking after him, it was provocative.
Someone who's seriously ill and is hallucinating may not be aware of the circumstances, i.e. Sawyer wouldn't have said that sentence in front of Jack, if we hadn't been ill. Same for Jack probably.
And all the comments here above about how insensitive he is...well he probably doesn't even see very well! Give the man a break!

Yeah, the story with her sister is so beautiful. It was her FB, that made me love her.
And I always had a feeling, Juliet perhaps may not make it to the end, but if there is one reason for her character to do so, it is the reunion with her sister, I think.
This is pure and unconditional love and I would love to see the two of them together again.
I dont think they would kill Juliet. SO much potential in EM and the character too. It would extremely heart-breaking if she is left behind or doesnt make it off island.
However it would be interesting to see now how the Losties will serve as a factor in the whole widamore and ben faceoff. While I loved the epi tonight I really hope the show doesnt become the Bed/Widmore show and the Losties fade away in the background. The season hasnt been very flattering to Locke either who is becoming quite dull imo!

Don't really buy this stuff about Jack being a natural born leader. Frankly, Jack's leadership would have fallen apart a lot sooner than it did if he'd had to deal with with Ana-Lucia had to deal with. He made a lot of bad decisions, but because he didn't have to deal with the mess AL did, he was able to coast.
Sayid with his military background was more fit to be leader than Jack. And would have done a far better job. Jack was leader because no one else wanted to take the responsibility for everyone's survival.

I'm really looking forward to the Jack & Kate scenes in the upcoming episode. MF and EL will definitely bring their 'A game'. I like Juliet, but she should really give up on the idea of her and Jack winding up together because he just doesn't love her. Besides, the future for a Jack/Juliet relationship doesn't look good from the Eggtown FF scenes.
Hopefully this Quad/triangle stuff gets resolved real soon because having the Jack/Kate/Sawyer thing going on for 4 years now (and the quad with Juliet going on 2 years next season) is really insane.

Exactly and that is why Jack is the best man for the job, not because he always makes the right or best decisions, but because he does so with the safety and well-being of the survivors as his only motivation, wheras others seem to have side agendas that influence their decision making. That Jack will stubbornly refuse when he feels he knows what's right or will willingly defer to Sayid and anyone else that has a better idea is also why Jack is the best choice for leader. He's not afraid to make gut-wrenching decisions (letting his 3 friends be executed) and he's not concerned about winning any popularity contests with the sheep. His only motivation is and always has been keeping them alive and getting them rescued, which is why he reacted the way he did when Daniel told him "No". He's failed at the only thing that mattered to him and his unraveling based on that failure has begun. Jack is an extremely complex character if people get past their aversion toward authority figures and take the time to pay attention to what makes him tick and appreciate that he's probably one of the most flawed and screwed up hero characters we've ever seen.
We have been told or seen it prophecized more than once that Jack is and is meant to be a leader and a great man, so don't count him out, he is going to hit rock bottom and then rise from the mess he's becoming and when he does he'll be a better man for it.

Agreed. there is no natural born leader. But what differentiates one leader with a non leader is the willingness to take responsibility and people to follow.
To be frank, Jack never wanted to do but at least stepped it up. Others on the other hand, took it easy.
For this reason alone, Jack is one of my favorite characters. He could have chosen to do nothing. But he didn't. Even the many times he messed up, at least someone did something. It shows character, courage, and willingness to help.
The others that judge Jack's decisions should have stepped it up too... It is too easy to criticize when you don't take any responsibility. Too easy!

Well, I think LOST is changing, and so, everything the producers have repeated many times in their podcasts. It seems everybody is seeing dead people all around. Hurley thinks they are all dead. Jack sort of believes him.
In Episode 10 "Something Nice Back Home" @ what I got from this episode was......Sawyer, even though Dr Jack doesn't know ( Kate does), Sawyer did escape the island, probably with this Time Travel. That's why they will stop all these flashbacks/flash forwards after the finale.
Also, it looked like Mrs. Jack Sheppard (Kate) is pregnant.
It looks like a few years in the future as baby Aaron looked like being over 2 years old.
Poor Jack...I felt sorry for him a bit. After all he has done, whether dead or alive he always seems to be unlucky with women..
I also don't buy this Man Of Science, Man of Faith....for a couple of reasons. One is Jack on the bridge just before he was about to jump looked up to the sky and said, "Forgive Me" That sounds more of a man of faith to me than a man of science.
Two, I think the producers took a nice TV SHOW and after the first Season ruined it. Now, it has become a copy of many shows and more like "The Twilight Zone", "The X-Files", "Indiana Jones", "Supernatural", 'The Others" with Nicole Kidman.. It's a sci-fi spoof now...Zombies, or Aliens? You chose...
