^ it was kinda weird the whole 'let me carry the baby' from Miles. me thinks we got a babynapper underway :) which really, it's fine by me...he takes Aaron without Claire noticing, and she'll still be alive..and when he gets to the beach Jack or someone can kick his butt, take Aaron, blah blah blah. and everyone is safe(except miles)..in a perfect world. lol i can dream. i just don't want claire to die. i find that rather evil.

It looks good, but I don't think it will beat the ep we just saw. Jack has a burst appendix? How is Juliet going to operate? I thought she wasn't a surgeon. I guess they're considering this so basic even a fertility doctor can do it. Are they going to carry him to the medical station or do it on the beach? Do they really have the equipment for doing it on the beach? Jack tried that with the Marshal and we know how well that turned out. Of course, we know Jack won't die, but I guess he's gonna suffer some this episode.
Sawyer is really being protective of Claire. It’s like he’s made her his mission. Being in Locke’s camp sure has made him so much closer to Hurley and Claire. I was surprised to see so many survivors of the smoke monster too. Like I said, looks pretty good.
Maybe Keamy had a backup team?
Miramax, I loved what he said to Locke about Hurley. Harm one hair on Hugo's head and he's dead.
Thought Hugo came off as a true hero in this episode. Locke didn't come off well, at all. He's still got that island monkey on his back. Had no problem locking Sawyer and Claire out there to be killed. He didn't make one move to let them in. Thank god for Hugo.
lyly ford- you really don't hear it? the second jack, right before he opens his eyes... it sounds sooo much like kate's voice! i'm pretty sure it's him imagining it's kate, especially with the whole "i want kate" thing.
I thought it was Kate until I saw Juliet appear...

yea.....thats definitely weird that they played the same exact music from the opening scene in the pilot. I guess it fits with the opening shot of the "eye" thing.....but WHY????
To everyone that thinks its Kates voice that says the second 'Jack', it isn't. it's Juliets louder voice, she's used it before and she uses it again a few seconds later.

sanna and kate - yeah, sawyer is amazing!!! i love the fact that he is the protecter now and how much he cares about claire and hurley!! so cute! so amazing! i loved it when he called her sweetheart and the line about touching a hair on hurleys curly head was so cute and funny. lol. cant wait til next week for another sawyer fix :)

I don't think Sawyer makes it back to the beach. It seems Claire is in Jacob's cabin, so I'm sure Sawyer will be going there to rescue her.

i think he will feel guilty (even though it wasnt on any level his fault) for letting hurley go with locke, so he will go back for him. then he will return to the beach when he has hurley as well. :)

Almost all the ppl I know are in love with Juliet and sympathize with her and say what a great, grown-up woman she is.

Anyone else feel like they are trying to slide the positive attributes that Charlie had before he died (his redemptive quest, his friendship/protectiveness of Hurley, Claire and Aaron) onto Sawyer.
I thought it was especially distasteful that she called Sawyer "Charlie" when she was woken up after the explosion. It was like a terrible plug meant to appease the people who miss Charlie.
Maybe Sawyer is being moderately possessed by Charlie's spirit!? :p
Sawyer has definitely gone up in my estimation. With a bit of luck, Kate, Jack and crew will see the change before they head off to the mainland. Can't wait until the next episode! :D
@Mike, I disagree. I think this is a new Sawyer coming out and I like it. Trust me, I HATE tptb for killing Charlie but I don't think that's what they're doing.
i dont think tptb are trying to turn sawyer into charlie. but i did love it that she called him charlie. it shows that she has not forgot him, which is what all charlie fans want. :)

Miles wanting Aaron is creepy and how did Keamy and his group survive Smokey? Maybe Ben just put Smokey on stun mode just in case he needs their services later. Ben needs to die and in a very slow and painful way.
Poor Jack, he can barely walk and is still trying to take care of the group. That "I promised I would" right before he collapses is heartbreaking.

ITA, I joke about the pep talk thing, but how much does it kill him when he is not well enough to DO GOOD? I'm so sad for him. They're gonna have to drug him asleep or something before his insides implode.

Well, what did the smoke monster to that soldiers, they are ok so the monster is just a distraction :P I thought they are all dead. The monster is soft.
And, why Ben doesn't want Sawyer come back to the house? Is he afraid of him? And its clear the island protect him and Claire...they could be injured with the shots and the explosions but they don't, so...they are important for the island.Yeah!

Well, in the same light you could find it strange that the island allowed Claire to be kidnapped and drugged and put in danger of an exploding house or that it allowed Sawyer to suffer a lethal knife wound and infectious bullet wound (which Jack fixed and healed both of those by the way not the island). You could also wonder if the island wanted Jack dead would Locke have suddenly appeared at the cliff to save him from falling and would Charlie have been able to crawl into the collapsed cave and save him and who or what healed Jack's separated shoulder so quickly not to mention that nasty gash on his back that Kate sewed up, but seemed to have disappeared by the time he ran into the ocean to save Boone. Could it be that maybe the island is testing Jack instead of trying to kill him and our favorite doctor is too stubborn to see it that way........yet. I guess we'll see how things go next week.
I think smokie killed 2 of them and mortally wounded another, didn't miles say there was at least 6 of them, only looked to be 4 total in the sneak peek. can't believe "falling back", think that's what keame yelled was an option with smokie. next weeks ep looks like its going to be pretty crazy also, can't wait to find out how the oceanic 6 got off the island

To each their own, of course, but it seemed like lazy damage control from TPTB to me. We hadn't had anything about Charlie since 4x01, and then all she says is "Charlie" in a battered stupor.
I know what the script was supposed to do, but their direction of her character (as well as Des, Hurley, everyone really) kinda threw away all of its meaning before she got to say it.
But, I digress... sometimes certain acting nuances bother me. I shouldn't overlook the big picture.
What exactly is Juliet lying about in this sneak peek? Do some people actually people that she drugged Jack and made him sick or something?
Sadly, I can't watch the second sneak peek because it always seems to get stuck after 2 or 3 seconds. Still, I absolutely love hero Sawyer.

I think such lazy damage control and the odd inconsistencies of some characters this season in particular, is a direct consequence of the writers having to juggle such an incredible ensemble cast.
It is to their absolute credit that most fans are not only still interested in most of the characters, but care about them also. Personally, the only ones I am indifferent to are Sun and Jin. I don't hate any of them, love quite a few and reserve a special place in my heart for one in particular :)
I think the writer's are forced to 'park' some of these characters right in front of our eyes just for momentum's sake as events elsewhere take precedent. Thankfully, they do it with considerable, if not perfect skill. Sawyer for the first half of this season is a great example. Ditto for Locke.
The only thing that concerns me is the possibility of them then over-compensating when the spotlight finally returns to a certain character. Again, Sawyer is a great example. In my opinion, he has gone from apathetic to heroic in too swift a stride, giving him an odd nuance that fortunately, gets swept away amidst a terrific episode such as 'The shape of things to come', but that line about hurting a hair on Hurley's head should have been left in a waste paper basket in the writer's room. I cringed :/

OH! Last night when the hours exploded and Claire was still alive, I was like WTF, that would never happen! I never even thought that the island may be keeping her alive! LOL
And I did like that Claire said Charlie's name. I was really pissed with the way that Claire was acting after his death.. The cry, and then hardly anything. It was a nice touch to hear. :)
@robotic - ITA about the Claire saying "Charlie" part, what you said about it…..what would've been the icing on the cake for it would be if she and Sawyer both had a "Kate's Black Horse" in the jungle moment, except the black horse in this instance was Charlie watching nearby…..

In Doc Artz' little blip about the episode he mentions that they cut a Claire scene where she had a premonition like dream. He says they cut it because of time elements. Thus, I believe she was probably dreaming about charlie and that happened to be where they had to cut the scene, thus her saying, "Charlie..."
Also, as to Keamy, it seems to me that I read in a spoiler that Keamy had a portable electronic device that repelled the smoke monster. That may be why he and three others survived the whirlwind.
On another note, I don't think Jack is asking for Kate to rebuke Juliet. I think, discovering that the freighties don't intend to rescue them makes him fear that he made the wrong decision. I imagine he wants her to promise to take everyone to Locke, or Sawyer, or maybe even promise to do what she could to make sure that everyone gets off the island if he dies.
Further, one of the spoilers looks like Juliet is handing Jin her gun. I hope she's telling him to blow Daniel and Charlotte away if they try to leave the beach. I suspect she's giving it to him as an act of trust so that they will let her operate on Jack.
I think this will be a really, really interesting episode. EM said in an interview that, in this episode, she discovered that Juliet really does love Jack. So, whatever happens, it is likely bittersweet.
Whoah, I really don't know how people can actually ""love"" those minor, intrandescent (spell?) and awful characters like Rose & Bernard... Every time they show up, all they do is say thing we all know, and ask the same questions everybody asks...
I don't think the writers are trying to turn Sawyer into baby-stealing diary-reading love leech Charlie. I think they were throwing a bone to the Charlie fans still yapping and trashing Claire because she doesn't spend every episode crying he eyes out and yelling, "Charlie! Charlie!"
Until such time as another character willingly sacrifices themselves for another, or indeed all (by drowning in an underwater station for example), they can hardly be compared to Charlie :)

Great sneaks. Just a couple of things about the ep--
At first I had a wtf reaction to Claire's survival as well, but upon second viewing I noticed that the surface under her body was grass, and that she was covered by clothing. I think she was hanging laundry in back and covered with debris when the house exploded, not actually inside the house.
I agree with tla about characters being parked. Jack has been parked this season too, out of necessity b/c Foxy was filming and promoting movies. Also, because much of this season involved real-time waiting and action in flash-forwards, it seems to me that many characters seem less fleshed-out than in seasons past. Flashbacks provided character developmdent even when nothing much was happening on the island. Flashforwards are story-driven and don't say that much about the characters' current states. So it seems to me that most of them have been doing a whole lotta nothin' in the present this season, and any movement seems a bit like 0-60 in 2 seconds.
That said, I think we're seeing Sawyer "snap" here--in New Otherton he's been constantly frustrated as his suggestions for what to do next are nipped in the bud by de-facto leader Locke. In this ep, Locke showed no ability to make decisions at all, and Sawyer just said "fuck it" and leapt into action.
And to the commenter who said Locke made no effort to help Sawyer and Claire...he DID--he removed the rest of the glass with his shotgun and helped Claire and Sawyer through the window (and showed concern for Claire's well-being) but only after Hurley made the first move. Just like he barracaded the door only at Ben's order, and let Ben tell him where to go during the gunfight, and let Ben dictate his demand to take Hurley to the cabin. Locke was a total follower last night and showed that he has no clue in a crisis.
This behavior is so far from what he wants for himself that I'm sure it will be addressed very soon.
One question: anyone notice if Locke fired a single shot last night? Has he ever fired a gun, except at the grounded sat phone? Just trying to keep track...
god, I hope Sawyer shoots Keamy in the f**king face even though we all know that won't happen. And by the way, how come we haven't seen the rest of the others in so long? What are Ben's people doing inside the temple and why hasn't he been in touch with them?
Yeah I could have sworn the second "Jack" was Kate's voice. It COULD be Juliet's, she sometimes sounds like that when she raises her voice, but the sound does sound a bit off, like it's recorded at a different time, and Juliet's voice is low and airy both before and after. On top of that, it sounds sooo much like Evangeline Lilly that I'm thinking they put in the Kate sound clip to set up that Jack will have hallucinations of some kind in this episode. It will probably be left ambiguous whether or not it was really Kate's voice, leaving us to speculate etc. But I wouldn't put it past them to put Kate's voice in there.
In the jungle, I wonder how Sawyer and co. will get out of that one... I'm guessing right after the sneak peek ends, Keamy does a typical bad guy, right let's go and they all let out sighs of relief. But I really hope that someone kills that bastard soon! Though I think it should be Ben rather than Sawyer who does it.

Everybody is saying nothing to worry about Jack's alright. Yes thats right but the doc on the boat is alright as well! Oh and we also know that Charles changed the rules!!! This might be one of the side effects, so in my opinion Jack might not be save as everyone else says!!!
