i dont know... something tells me that 'stop time' and what not was just a phrase. Saying its a good kiss, lol. That's just how i look at it, i guess i dont see how a kiss could have mythological effects...
If it's literally stopping time, my guess is desmond & penny. could be jin & sun too though. don't think sawyer & kate will kiss in the finale, seeing how close her and jack were once they got back home. could be ben & anne, if the kiss is stopping time? very curious as to who the significant death is? significant is very open-ended. i'm kind of hoping its one of the 4 scientists, which would mean probably miles. i have a bad feeling (no pun intended) about juliet as she is not one of the 3 guaranteed to be alive on-island and her role in the future hasn't really been discussed a lot. can't wait for thursday!

Since Desmondo is our resident time travel expert, I am guessing a Des/Pen reunion which is fantastic :)
I dont see it a Jate or Skate kiss since now both have shared quite a no of kisses.
If it's a time stopping kiss, it should be Des and Penny.
I believe the death will be Sayid. The finale will be the first time that we've seen things beyond the season 3 finale. I don't think that Sayid is the one in the coffin - but I do think it's likely that one of the O-6 will die in the finale... because one of their deaths would leave us with a bit of a cliffhanger...
"I'm going to kill you first - then I'll go after the other survivors"... BLAM. Fade to black...

Also... re: Juliet... would anyone really care if she died? I don't think they would... so I also think that she could die in the finale. She's told Kate that Jack doesn't love her - I think the writers did that so that people don't think badly of Jack later on... so that it won't look like he's choosing Kate just because Juliet's dead.
Ok I'll go on record as saying I would care if they killed Juliet. I'm not a jacket person either. I really believed and felt bad for her character. Most people who watch the show, according to all the poll results Dark posts arent primarily fans because of the flashbacks or characters. They like the sci fi and the mystery and the romance. But I think Juliets two flashbacks in season three were excellent. I really want her to kill Ben, and/or get off the island and see her sister again. Everytime they have killed someone major, with the exception of the others and Charlie I've felt cheated because theyve made me care about the stuff the characters have been through in their flashbacks. Juliet better not die in the finale. I think the death will be Frank.

I don't think that "stop time" and "makes the entire world vanish in the moment" are two sentences casually said, and they both seem to hint to Desmond/Penny... I would love to see them sharing the spectacular kiss!
Although Juliet's episode this season was atrocious, I did love her two episodes in season 3 as well, and for the most part I like her character (could do without the pseudo-crying though, as Kate already does that enough). I feel like TPTB shafted her character to try and make future Jack/Kate's relationship more believable, but I'm not really buying it. We've never seen them have an un-awkward conversation. I'm in no way a shipper for anyone (well... maybe for Dan and Charlotte), but that's what felt logical and right.
Still, now that it's been established that Jack isn't really into Juliet, I have no idea what TPTB are going to do with her. I'd like for her to survive, but her death is certainly more acceptable to me than say... Desmond, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley, Sayid, Dan, Miles, Jin, Claire, etc.
Im pretty convinced it will be a des/penny kiss now with the "stopping time" issue - i don't think that's just a phrase it's definatly a play on words

- it could be when jack and kate get back on the island and when they leave - but at the same time in a flashforward/present - EG they share a kiss in the same place and it "stops time" because it is at the exact same point in the future - if that makes sense? time travel makes my head hurt....

It'll be a Jin-sun kiss, for some reason someone will have to stay behind to help the oceanic 6 leave the island, or jin want to help the other survivor and wait for the next boat/heli/plane but the island will move ... thats why sun and hurley don't want to see the other 6

Well if Des and Pen do kiss and that's the effect, I guess that's the end of that relationship. It would solve the problem of the non availability of the actress for the rest of the series I suppose.
I think it is to do with the two rabbit phenomenon. Two people from different dimensions. That suggests that one of the participants was on the island when Locke moved it and the other was not.
i'm still thinking skate in the future. of course i would love des and penny, but its been said that it is a triangle complicating kiss, and unless des has 2 girls on the go, des and pen are not part of a triangle.

Yes, Desmond and Penny are cute, but could they really pull of a Spectacular Kiss and the most important question of all; would we care enough to think of it as spectacular?
... I'm a hardcore fan of this show and still I dont feel invested enough in Des/Pennys relationship to care that much and I guess it's even less important for the general audience.
If it's a Dess/Penny kiss, which is also one of Darltons favorite moment of the show, it must be about so much more than just a romantic moment between Desmond and anonymous Penny. Especially since they promoted the SK before it was even filmed.
No way. Juliet stays alive, she is my absolutely favourite and there is much more for her to do than stalk Jack. She has to resolve that pregnancy issue on the island. I can say she has much more to do than Sawyer, Rose, Bernard and others staying on the island.
And yes I would be very happy if that kiss was Jack/Sawyer, that would definitely stop the time and space, but unfortunately it's between man and woman and I have no idea...
I'm tired of the kiss speculation but I'm with Sanna a D&P kiss is not spectacular and TPTB are very excited for what this kiss means, so I guess this kiss is absolutely important to develope the next two seasons, I bet for Sawyer in it cause I think he is the Chosen One.
I'm also going with Skate in the future off island thats really the only kiss I can think of that would have any sort of triangle effect and be quite out there in terms of stopping time.
I am kind of hoping that does not happen because I'm a bit sick of the ping pong match for Kate and I like to think Sawyer would have found someone else (no idea who else would be on that island) by then.

i love Juliet - i think she is a really fascinating character. this season her character has been changed so that she serves the triangle better, but she is still one of my favorite characters. I really hope she doesn't die and that she gets to see her sister again!!

I am a long time lurker - first time poster btw so don't be too hard on me for my stupid idea. Though if the rabbits are anything to go by it may not be as stupid as I initially thought.
Plus there was talk of Kate pointing a gun at a different Kate in the comments of a Preview Video posted earlier in the week.
I think the kiss has to be someone who've never kissed on the show before and that lets out Desmond/Penny, Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Kate. I think it's going to be Sawyer/Claire. That he finds her in the cabin with Jacob and to shake her out of whatever Christian did to her, he grabs and kisses her and gets more than he bargained for.
Add further fuel to the fire is that Josh Holloway is going to be interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel right after the episode airs, so I imagine Jimmy will want to talk about the kiss.
Someone on another board suggested that Sawyer and Claire would be revealed as Adam and Eve, and this may be how it happens.
A Des/Pen reunion kiss would be the only one that would "stop time" for me.
Altho, a Charlie/Claire kiss would certainly qualify as "stopping time" since we don't know what dimension they exist in.

From what is said here, I would think what makes this kiss "spectacular" is that it LITERALLY stops time and makes the world disappear for a moment; in which case, the perceived chemistry between the characters is not what is significant here. Being that it involves time, the obvious choice is time traveler Desmond with Penny, but I also like some other suggestions: other-worldly but not dead Claire with dead but not forgotten Charlie (I could see how that could stop time) or off-island Kate somehow with on-island Sawyer. A Sawyer/Claire kiss would seem strange (unless it's a flash forward) since there is no history between them and there has been no build-up for it, but I suppose anything is possible. We should expect the unexpected, right? A kiss that stops time and blinks out the world, not just for the two people kissing, but for everyone. Now that is spectacular!
The kiss will be definitively between Sawyer and Kate. They will be on the zodiack and when they will arrive on the verge of the island, they will kiss each other and will make a continuity which will allow to find the island. Sawyer will be the only one to sacrifice himself for all.
Too bad we don't get any more Cynthia Watros. I was really looking forward to learning Libby's story...

I'm going to go with a Kate/Sawyer kiss while Sawyer is in the water, basically choosing to stay on the island and save whomever is in his arms unconcious...and therefore saying goodbye to Kate, who is on the raft - just as the raft heads into whatever funky bearings/time shift off the island - as Sawyer is pulled back into "island time" and Kate moves into "rest of the world time".....
OR - Darlton just meant its the kind of kiss that makes girls like me want to faint from how passionate and romantic it is....lol...the kind where you're holding your own breath while you watch it...*swoon* lol....
i just want to chime in here to say that I would be really bummed if they killed off Juliet. So the answer is "yes", to the original poster who posed the question, "would anyone really care if Juliet died?"
Juliet is a cold, bad-ass bitch at the moment, but she's also got a good heart, as we see in her flashbacks, and with the way she truly wanted to help Sun survive. Remember, she has been on the island a lot longer than our castaways. She's developed this personality out of bitterness at being tricked into coming to this "prison", so who can blame her for acting the way she does? Now of course, when she told Jin that Sun had an affair, I wanted to slap her myself! But I certainly don't want to see her die; I want them to take this character somewhere more than just a temporary distraction in the Jack/Kate romance. Also, Elizabeth Mitchell is my favorite actor on the show (along with Henry Ian Cusick), so I'd hate to see her go.

It was Darlton who said that the kiss would complicate the triangle, right? So no Des/Penny. I guess the term "complicates" is referred to the same things that are hinted in this spoiler, the kiss will affect somehow the überstory, probably in terms of timeframes and dimensions and such.
I think the kiss can only be Jack/Kate or Kate/Sawyer and I think it needs to happen on the island in order for it to be related to things such as The Orchid and time-barriers and dupplicates. So the kiss, at least in one of the dimensions, needs to happen in present time. So I think it'll be Kate/Sawyer. It makes more sense after all the Jack/Kate stuff in SNBH, and especially if the characters are getting separated for years. I don't know. Still, it could perfectly be Jack/Kate and maybe that is one of the reasons why Sawyer stays.
In any case, I don't see how it can be Desmond/Penny, if it complicates the triangle.

I disagree with those that say a kiss between Desmond and Penelope would not have any effect on the triangle. If their kiss does stop time and cause the world (the island) to disappear; what if they meet/kiss while Jack and Kate are in the raft and Sawyer is in the water. Thus the two groups are unwillfully pulled apart; Sawyer lost to the vanishing Island and Jake/Kate to the open waters. Just a thought.

myself, i keep wondering what the frozen donkey wheel's gonna be, and what ausiello just said (even if I don't really trust these guys, dark's the best) makes me think the kiss has something to do with it... "stop time"... "FROZEN donkey wheel"...
I also remember Darlton saying numerous times that people will be left wondering where present time's gonna be next year, considering it has always been on island.
so maybe, maybe, the island actually freezes after a kiss happens off island (kiss off island was also stated by Darlon), and next year's present would be off island, following the O6, with flashbacks of what happened on island until freezing.
ok, after rereading what I just wrote, I guess it's too weird and I don't think it will actually happen. I just need to sleeeeep...
I certainly hope the story doesn't shift to the O6 off island next year with flashes to the island. I am a little concerned that that could happen. This year has been all about the O6 and most centrics have been based on off-island flash forwards, which means those left on the island like Sawyer and Claire have not gotten their due this year. If the focus is the O6 again next year and their attempt to get back, I will be sorely disappointed. Sorry, but I miss Sawyer. He was rather prominent, especially in the first half of season 3, but in this shortened season and with him not being an O6er, he has been sidelined to much for my taste. Personally, I think island present time will shift to a point matching time in TTLG and will will see island flashbacks as well whatever other types of flashes there are.
I guess the question is - how a kiss that happens off the island can freeze time? Is that stuff possible, given the premises of the show, off the island? Maybe the kiss happens in the future and they've moved back in time somehow? If however happens in present time - how is Penny going to appear, in case it's Penny?
Most important of all - if some crucial time-freezing/time-travelling is happening, why would they choose a kiss to frame it with, which seems horribly sentimental, if that kiss is not connected with the main love story of the show, making it somehow move forwad? By main - I mean the one the writers have invested more time, effort, and storylines: the triangle, whatever the variation.
If it's a friggin' Jate/Skate kiss, I'm going to shoot someone.
