Dan: I'm part of the ABC Studios Advisory Panel, and they were asking questions about Michael's "fate" on Lost—very vague about whether he died or not, and also how interested I was in seeing him next season. Could this mean that, depending on the results, he might come back?! Also, when Ben says they all need to come back to the Island—is there any way he means Walt, too, and that he'll be a regular next season? Because, dammit, I miss the kid, and I need to know how he's special!
I've unilaterally decided that Ben's declaration means Walt has to go back, too, but whether Darlton or the Island agree with me remains to be seen. As for Michael, well, that there info you have from the advisory panel is what Arsenio used to call a thing that makes you go "Hmmmm..."
Janice in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada: On Lost, Ben says they all have to go back to the Island. Does this include Jin and Sun's child?
I personally think everybody means everybody, including innocent babies and children whom their mothers and feisty grandmothers are strongly disinclined to take back to the Dangerous Island of the Four-Toed Statue. On the other hand, maybe the moms can leave their babies with Penny while everyone else returns?

How can Micheal's death be vauge?
Christian(speaking for the island) said that, "He could go now."
He tried several times to kill himself, then was told the island won't let him die untill it's done with him. So, how else could he be alive?
Uh, did she completely ignore the little war of words between Harold and the writers after the episode aired? It was pretty clear after that that he's not coming back.
If Michael lives through that then I cry foul more than I've ever cried foul before. Hell, if he can survive standing right next to enough C4 to blow up a giant freighter when it actually blows up then why not bring Charlie back and say the island magically gave him gills?!? I mean christ, if a FREAKING FROZEN DONKEY WHEEL can make an island move in space and maybe time then it can make a great character and man like Charlie survive underwater. What a crock. But I don't think Michael's alive myself.
Michael is not coming back. Ever. That is all.
Maybe they were talking about having him come back as one of the walking dead Island visions. I dunno. I'd be happy to see him again.
It seems to me that since Walt was also visited by "Jeremy", that yes, he too is included as someone who should go back. Did Sun get visited by Jeremy? I don't recall it being mentioned - if not, she's the only one...so maybe she'll be on Widmore's side after all and she isn't "wanted" back.
Actually, Harold Perrineau said in a more recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that he'd be fairly happy to come back and do more scenes at some point, if he was wanted, and despite his annoyance at being written out.
Which he has been. Michael's definitely dead, the actor himself has said so. But doesn't necessarily mean we won't see him again.
Does this not go to show that she doesn't have a clue what she's talking about? I mean, how vague can you get?!
Ben made it very clear...all means all, Sun included. Just because we didn't see Bentham visit Sun, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Harold's EW interview was more of a back-peddle of his original tvguide.com interview where he first said that if asked to go back he'd have to seriously consider where they would go with the character. Had he have known that they were bringing him back just to kill him off, apparently he would have rethought the situation. Additionally, he's already got himself a new role. This article is odd to me too; Michael is dead, let's be honest.
What about Walt? Does he have to return?
SUn mentioned to Widmore that they werent the only ones who got off the island. Maybe she meant Locke too so Sun would be included in EVERYONE.
I wouldn't necessarily say michael is dead. Though we saw the boat explode, we never saw him actually die. I think this was for a reason, if i remember correctly all the other deaths in "Lost" occurred on camera, Michael's did not. Plus when Walt and Hurley were talking in the psych ward, Walt asked why is everyone lying?" "is it to protect everyone like my father?" I think the reason for the questionable fate of Michael is simple, that in case his new show bombs, he can be brought back for the last season.
