As you may or may not be aware, our good friend Ryan in Hawaii also does a regular Lost Podcast. In his latest podcast, which was released yesterday, he summarizes a number of the filming spoilers that we've covered. He has also provided us with some additional points that were raised during the show.

- Names from various sightings at very active Kualoa shoots.
- Medical scene with new female names and Mattingly (Yankees shoutout). Clinic or institution?
- Strong hints of a Desmond/Penny baby. Seemed a guess at Phillipines shoot last week, but other clues now, including (not mentioned on podcast) casting for very young baby, Caucasian," dark hair okay, not Aaron."
- Butcher shop but no Dominic? Same day as Ana Lucia shoot?

I thought a Des and Penny baby would be a bit twee, but now it could be a possibulity I kind of like it (especially if it means more scenes/eps featuring D&P!)

The last time we saw them was in January 2005, so, given that "present" off-island time seems to be 2007 or 08, those scenes could be flashbacks - y'know, what has Desmond been up to the last 2 years.
Either way, while I'm very "d'aww!" about this, I simultaneously fear it can only mean bad things. No birth on this show has ever been without complications, one way or the other.
If they are right about the butcher shop shoot being on the same day as Ana Lucia's visit, it has to be connected to that "hard-as-nails" butcher chick who was cast a few weeks ago.
But if the 'present' of the off-islanders is 2007 (as hinted at by the a v. specific gas price on those Hurley and Sayid spoilers the other week) there will have been plenty of time for Penny to get pregnant and have the baby.

Funny, I've been thinking today the relationship of Des and Penny was doomed. Desmond is such a tragic character. Something bad will happen to Penny this season.
Wild and premature speculation: TPTB promised to explain the vision Desmond had with Claire and a baby leaving in a helicopter. Since Aaron is not a baby anymore, what if Des saw his child with her instead?

Des is a tragic character and that's why I've had a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach since their unanticipated reunion in TNPLH. I am kind of resigned to the fact that he won't have a traditional 'happy ending', but I really would love, even though it wouldn't really be in keeping with the story.

Depending on when this child is born, it might not be a baby anymore when they get back to the island, either.

lylyford, I'm wondering if it's the other way round: that Des got visions of Penny dying ever since Keamy killed Alex, and that's why he wanted to stay on the boat so desperately, and he probably managed to save her from Ben, but then she dies anyway, because it gets course corrected.
I listened to Ryan's podcast, and he says that he could read Desmond, Abigail and Theresa's names on the traillers outside the medical/institution scene shooting.
And we read here sometime ago:
"#503 will feature two British women in their 30's,Abigail (Theresa's nurse)& Theresa (who suffers from dementia). Also a British working class man in his late 40's and a Filipino 'doctor'. Naturally all names and professions could, and likely will, change"
How could they be related to Desmond? Who is he visiting there? Or is he a patient????

However, we had both casting for a female Asian scientist who is on maternal leave and an Asian baby, so together with the video being apparently filmed in Cheng's house I don't think it's all that far out to assume that that's his family.
Ryan seemed to just be guessing about the pregnant Penny part.
Do you remember how all over Aaron Penny was in the finale? I don't know, that seemed some heavy-duty foreshadowing.

There was already speculation on another post that the doctor Desmond was looking for was an obstetrician. It's a video done by people who didn't know what they were filming showing Desmond running to boat shouting "Penny we're here"; this was after he went into the Phillipino village searching for what was allegedly was a doctor.
I see nothing wrong with a timeline of Penny being pregnant; as Darlton said "we'll be telling the story in a different format this season". This might not even be present time....
Sadly, I do fear something happening to one of them; Desmond was left to raise his 3 brothers, will he be left to raise his child alone now too?
Meanwhile, Malcolm David Kelley in his last interview had not been contacted to return to Lost; he'd also no longer be considered a "kid" on the island at the age of almost 17 by the time the show returns if he were to return with the O6 and that's only if they return in the beginning of the season; it's more likely at this point that Walt's return would be in the capacity of an adult, not a kid. Additionally, how did we establish that Desmond would be having a "son"? Just curious?.
