im guessing you didnt read that call sheet for episode 4? something happens in that episode with Ben and Aaron.
1 of two options,
Ben is doing it to get Kate to run and therefore need to hide somewhere really good!
or....... Claire's mother is filing for custody, perhaps jack let her know what was what.

Tying him into LOST... Tom Irwin also starred in the short-lived ABC 1991 series, "My Life and Times" ( http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0101150/ ) as a man, Ben Miller, who looks back on his life as an old man in the future. Each episode was set in a different part of the 20th century as a flashback, with his future self thinking back on a particular scenario. Very LOST-ish !

I wonder why Kate even has that pic of Jack and Aaron up still, if she's so disgusted with Jack by the time they meet at the airport in TTLG. I guess it's for Aaron's benefit. But that makes me wonder how she has explained Jack to Aaron all this time. Does he see Jack as "Mommy's ex-boyfriend"? Does he see him as "Daddy"? Or does he know that Jack is his blood uncle? (Or, did Kate pull one of those old-time, "this is Mommy's good friend, Uncle Jack [who she just so happens to sleep with]" numbers? That would be ironically creepy. Or creepily ironic. Or something.)
OMG...squuuuueeee Jack and Aaron pic, *thud* I think there's still hope for Jate if Kate keeps his picture on the table there. Also I agree with most of you above that this is probably a ploy to get Kate to run and who's she gonna call when she's in trouble? Hopefully this is Ben's attempt at him getting Kate to talk to Jack, he's going about all the wrong way but the ends will justify the means.

Widmore could have sent them knowing that if he separated Kate and aaron it would make it hard for aaron to get back to the Island (if he in fact has to go back as well). Or it could be Ben attempting to take aaron away from kate so that he could use him as leverage to control Kate. Who knows with lost though, could be Locke.

they were a family. it's pretty damn huge.
each one of them is suffering for the separation that's occurred. Aaron misses him,as I'm sure does Kate.They have things in the house that remind them of him.it's simple as that people.
I do think this is a ruse to get Kate to run, but really... it didn't even need to be THAT threatening. Running away is sort of her thing...

Also, no one has mentioned "Jeremy Bentham" yet as the client. It could be Locke pressuring her to go back.
It's not that simple francesca. From her reaction to Jack she is rather pissed at him. I also say she's going to Cassidy or someone else.
I think she is going to Cassidy's place. At Jack's home she would be too easy to found, it's well known her connection with him.
If Ben is behind the lawyers, Kate is gonna be stalked until she will understand her only "real" escape: in the Island, of course...

Yeah, the Jack/Aaron photo is cute, but notice Kate doesn't once look at it on the way out. Even Sawyer took a moment to look at Cassidy's photo even though he was taking off with her money. Think if Kate gave a rip about Jack she'd at least take a moment to look at it? Heh. I'm willing to bet that's there purely for Aaron's benefit.
I think it is Bens plan and she will go to Jack. I also guess the picture of him and Aaron is a little hint.
Don't believe Widmore has anything to do with it. If someone really wants to know whether Kate and Aaron are related or not, ringing her door and ask her straight for a blood sample may not be the smartest move ;)

If Ben wanted Aaron, he would sit outside the house in a car and when Aaron came out to play he would pull the old "I have a puppy in my car would you like to see it" ploy and grab him. He wouldn't have to go to all the trouble of lawyers, judges and blood tests when he could take Aaron, release him and scare Kate that way into wanting to return to the island. If Ben wanted Aaron for something else, I think he would just take him. Course, Ben does love to play games!
But this feels too much like the stuff that happened to Hurley last year when Abandon came to see him pretending to be a lawyer. Aaron might be special and Widmore is just finding out. Or Abandon's employer might want him.
My guess is Ben sent the lawyer's to Kate's house. They want her to have second thoughts about going back to the island. In my view, that picture of Jack and Aaron was put there to show the Shepherd bloodline, and their importance going forward in the story. There was no Kate in the picture, it's a Shepherd family portrait.
By the way, at the specialaccess site, when you hold your mouse over the sneak peek, it says: Sneak Peek, lost 1/21.
So... that means 21 (!!!) sneak peeks ??!!! Totally awsome. That would mean roughly 1 peek per 3 days.

I didn't take time to read all of the comments due to a time crunch but I did see a lot of posts theorizing that Ben sent the men. My thought is that it is Matthew Abbadon trying to find more out about other survivors much like he was doing in his visit to Hurley in the insitution. Seems more likely than Ben as he would not care and already knows the truth. Why would he try to scare her into running; unless he is trying to make her feel unsafe back at home and thus be compelled to return to the island where no one will be suspecting anything.
I think the 1/21 refers to the date the ep will air.

Also wanted to comment on a post theorizing that the picture of Jack and Aaron had someting to do with the Sheppard bllodline; I think it was there to show that Jack, at some point, got over his problem with seeing aaron which was revealed to us in Eggtown.

BTW, why did I first think that the man with white hair (name Dan Norton?) looks so much as Christian Shephard? I know that it's not him, but the thumbnail screencap made me to think of him... Crap! I hope I wouldn't go insane till season 5 ends. :P
Kate isn't going to Jack for two reasons. One, the promo. We see her going to someone who obviously isn't Jack. Second, the last time we saw Jack and Kate together she was slapping him for even saying Aaron's name (yes - I know- incoherent with the photo, but the photo was there so Kate could close her door on it) and accusing him of calling her once and again while "stoned on his pills". So yes - Kate is going to meet with Jack and they are going to talk away their differences and work together - but it isn't going to be that easy. Kate isn't going to run to Jack's protection just like that. Please, give the woman some credit. She survived alone on the run for four years. She doesn't trust Jack with Aaron, either. I mean - you don't stop being a drunk and an addict just because you shave.
Of course in the end the connection between Kate, Jack and Aaron will be meaningful and relevant. But give the story some time to develop naturally, right?
Now on Sawyer. Yes - of course. There is some parallelism in the way she uses nicknames and especially in the photo element. As in Sawyer in TLC, they close the door to their pretend (and yet painfully real) attempt a family!"normal"!Life playing house to get back alone in the open. But once again - Kate and Sawyer's stories have always been constructed like this: by means of parallels that mirror and oppose one another. Is she going to Cassidy? Well - it does make sense. We actually have to see some consequence of the promise happen "on scene" before the journey back begins!
Said that - the more meaningful element for me is that she is living that house where she never belonged, packing a pair of jeans and carrying a gun - which implies breaking parole and crossing that line that kept her ironically trapped inside the law. Well - finally. Kate's character is how she is. She is a criminal. And she runs. She doesn't live in a mansion in Beverly Hills or surroundings. People are always complaining that she is badly written because it is about Jack or Sawyer. Well - NO. This is primarily about Kate. Parallels and connections wit Jack and Sawyer are appendices that complement her characterization. It has always been like that. Not the other way around.
I am hearing Agrostini and Norton. I definitely hear an R in the first name.
Yeah they neutered the Kate character with all the triangle crap. Who would have thought Sun and Juliet and even Charlotte would be the strong female characters of the show?

When I hear Dan Norton saying the name of the law firm, it sounds like (phoenetically) ag-wa-stee-knee. I wonder how they will spell that. You know the law firm will be an anagram, but it's hard to figure out what it will be without the spelling.

I may be alone here, but I think that the lawyers might not have come from Ben or Widmore or Abbadon etc. In the first part of the finale, a reporter asked an uncomfortable question about Kate being 6 months pregnant when the plane crashed... I think the lawyers might just be suspicious about her pregnancy; maybe they don't believe she was actually 6 months pregnant...maybe the client is someone else, and it isn't important who it is - perhaps this is just a turn that gets Kate on the run, makes it a more interesting story or gives her a sense of urgency that brings her back to Jack and the rest of the O6. After all, if her life continued to just be relatively happy, convincing her to go back to the Island would be more difficult.
Of course, the fact that the client remained unnamed and the guy seemed a bit ominous about that fact could suggest the client is a character we know; and details on a previous spoiler suggest that as well (though that could end up being different - why would Ben send lawyers?).
OK, I've been thinking about this for a while and I have a new addition to the "Ben" theory. Sure, Claire's mother has the DNA to prove that Aaron belongs to her family, but is she really the type to try to steal a child away? Who would she have raise him? If only there was another character with Aaron's DNA to claim some relationship... oh, wait, Jack! And who is Jack working for/with? BEN!!! Of course, the little weasel can't just go up to Kate and say "let me eat your baby" so he hires creepy goons. Widmore goons would have some panache. And since Kate had not run away as of Bentham dying/the airport scene, I doubt it is Locke.
And when we watch the show, we find out it's... someone we totally didn't expect. Or Ben.

But she will and very soon! That pic on her house meaning that she has Jack on her life yet, on her thoughts! If not, she wouldn't have that pic there, never! And she wants that Aaron have it too! The pic of Jack and Aaron was focused on purposefully in the shot. And Jack looks great and happy. (I would know...it's now my desktop wallpaper.) Possibly foreshadowing of where she is headed (to Jack's) or simply a statement that she has not cut him out of her life as completely as the finale made it seem. She's not leaving the O6 behind at all...she's going to join the O6 posse!

and now that i think about it, back in s4 when kate was doin a favor from a secret person on the phone, and she claimed it was for sawyer, but i have a feeling the request came from locke. if locke delivered a message to kate from sawyer sayin how bad the island turned since the o6 left she might do anything for him. and now jack has the ultimate manipulators on his side, ben and locke (spiritual of course).

well... the trailer was misleading now wasnt it? making us all think the "vacation" that Kate was alluding to was the fun in the sun of your favorite island... and mine.... this appears to not be true.. i havent read any of the comments (other than the VERY important first comment)... but imo... Ben is the person who set this whole blood test thing up.... he told Jack he had some "ideas" on how to get back to the island AND on how to get everyone back together.. and this is the beginning of that... i mean, after a couple years, this has never happened to Kate and Aaron.. yet now, out of nowhere, it happens... and it happens in what i believe to be the same time-frame in which Jack was having a conversation with Ben over Locke's body.... im guessing it's only been a couple days since the Jack/Ben conversation,.....

The photo is too ambiguous to call - a picture of Aaron and his Uncle Jack is a picture of Aaron and his Uncle Jack; but given the talk of blood relations and the closing of the door on it - she didn't take it with her - I think the talk of it as a romantic indicator is more wishful thinking than analysis.
Jack could be in back of the tests, but he's only one of at least 6 suspects. Do grandparents have any rights in the US?
Firstly, I'm an idiot and shouldn't be allowed to comment but something's bothering me that I think we've all overlooked:
One quick comment – We’re all neglecting one person in these assumptions – Aaron’s father. If he thought his some was alive what’s stopping him from trying to make contact?
We already know that there may be some connection between him, Widmore and the Island from his paintings (in the hatch and in Mr. W’s office).
Could Widmore be manipulating him or is there more to him that meets the eye?

That's a good point Ruthio. Aaron's dads name was Thomas, but seeing as Malkin said the father would play no part in the babies life, I assume that it would go against the point of the show bringing him back into it.

ok the Dude standing behind lawyer looks an awful lot like Thomas, Aaron's Father, only aged a few years.
Ok, this is just sad when I think about it. Before, Kate was just this woman who was taking care of a child, but this sneak peak makes her a genuine KIDNAPPER! For all she knows it could be Aarons real father who is looking for his son and here she comes, takes the kid and runs off.
I really, really cant stand this version of Kate.
I can't stand any version of Kate. She really could be a great character, her story lines are really interesting, but I just don't like her!
The question should not be about Jack's picture it should be who sent those lawyers? Ben to get her to go back to the island? Widmore to expose the truth? Sun? Claire's mum?
This might of been said already but doesn't this debunk that detailed filming report in the rumors section that was posted a while ago? The one that said Kate's probation officer saw her bags packed and arrested her for being a flight risk.
Hey guys, I seriuosly dobt that we will ever see or hear anything about Aaron's father ever again. Not only did he not want anything to do with being a father, but I'm sure that he assumes Claire died in the plane crash before she could give birth. But more importantly, remember Claire's psychic told her that Aaron's father would never be part of his life.
BTW, While I love the fact that Kate is pulling Sawyer and calling Aaron a nickname, I would never refer to a child that I loved as "Goober". Maybe I just watched too much of The Andy Griffith Show, but calling him Goober is about the same as calling him stupid.
Other than that, though, I loved the clip!

For those of you who are mentioning the playground and Aaron's age, I've worked with young kids my whole life (former manny, mom of 3, former Gymboree teacher, etc.) and I can tell you that most playgrounds in the USA (that were built in the last decade anyway) all look very similar. And there is no way Aaron is 5 or 6. I have a child that age and another one in preschool, and I would guess Aaron to only be about 3 1/2 or 4.
I'm with the folks who said that the client here is Abaddon, because it seems his style to use lawyers and he doesn't have the information he needs to prove the O6 story is a lie. I also think the episode "The Lie" will reveal this connection. Ben knows Abaddon and Widmore (whether they're working together or not) are after everyone and will use this knowledge to prompt Kate to join up. However, I have not ruled out that it is Ben working directly to put Kate on the offensive and prompt her to seek help from her fellow O6. Just not sure yet. Also, I wouldn't rule out Claire's mom's involvement because she did mysteriously arise from a coma in about 3 months, so maybe she's working with Ben/Abaddon/Widmore also. Otherwise, how would she know it was Claire's baby?
In regards to the picture and Kate "closing the door on her fake life", I am totally for it. I didn't like the California soccer mom Kate at all and I thought it was a betrayal to her character. She has never been the most moral character, but she has contributed a lot to the safety and welfare of the Losties. She didn't always act selflessly, but she helped everyone out. She's a survivor, to the point of crime, just like Sawyer, and like Sawyer I think Kate has worked to redeem herself (especially by standing trial for her actions)...but you can't get over the survivor instinct. "Same thing I've always done, Kate. Surviving." She's running because that's what she does when threatened and Aaron is the most important thing in the world to her. Hardly a "criminal" or immoral thing to do.
I also think that her immediate devotion to Aaron has to do with her being virtually alone off the island. In Eggtown, it was about Kate sort of wanting a family with Sawyer and their argument that if she left the island, she'd have no one and nothing. When they got off the plane, Aaron was all she had. I've always viewed it as Aaron is the child she never had with Sawyer (the writers intentionally made us think that "her son" was Sawyer's at first).
So, while there's a picture of Jack with Aaron, I think the connection between Sawyer and Kate is still stronger. But we will see. I think Kate and Jack will reconcile in their journey back to the island, but only as friends.
Am I the only person to notice that Aaron was wearing a white shirt, possibly his pajamas, at the beginning of the clip, but when he walked in on Kate packing her bag, he was wearing a blue and white rugby shirt..... did anyone else notice that?
Yeah I know Kate has a nanny for Aaron, but the way it was presented, Kate went right from the front door to her room.
@richelgee^^^They also didn't show Kate changing from the pjs she was wearing when she answered the door to the outfit she was wearing while packing.
New theory...Maybe the person wanting to get the info on Kate and Aaron is a gung-ho reporter curious about the O6 lie/conspiracy and is following up on the story of Kate's supposed pregnancy when she boarded flight 815 and unknowingly sets everything in motion. Just a thought.
Haha all that talk of Aaron's biological father, all the conspiracy talk of Ben. Makes me think back to season 2 theories that Aaron's father was Ben's son!

what if the client is Kevin, Kate's "husband" the one she had before fleeing to Australia? Perhaps he thinks the baby is his...but then again the most likely it is someone who wants Kate to run...
Something I didn't think of until now is that Michael and Walt also had their blood taken, and questions as to Michael being walt's biological father.
(We also know Kate Jack & Sawyer had blood taken)

Actually that isnt a crazy thought, especially when you watch the "In Search Of" style faux documentary on the Oceanic 06. It really ties the 2 things together.
@Chris--^^That's where I got the idea after seeing that the "documentary" is one of the Bonus Extras on the S4 DVD. It made me think it had to tie in somewhere especially when 1/3 of the "documentary" is about Kate's "pregnancy."
