"Lost" (8 p.m. recap, 9 p.m. season debut Jan. 21, WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, ABC). How would executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof describe the opening scenes of the season premiere of "Lost"?
Compelling, says Cuse.
Groovy, says Lindelof.
Sounds intriguing, but then again, that's what makes "Lost" special. "What we don't want to do in season five is basically stand around sort of shifting from one foot to another waiting for the last season of the show," says Cuse of the acclaimed ABC series that's set to wrap in 2010. "Like it or not, we decided to take some chances this year and be bold in our storytelling and we're willing to accept the consequences of that."
As the story picks up again, Jack and Ben are trying to reunite the Oceanic 6 and return them to the island, with Locke's body in tow, in a quest to save the remaining castaways. But it's going to be tricky convincing everyone to cooperate. And since Ben moved the island at the end of last season's finale, they'll have to figure out where -- and when -- it went.
Expect a lot of interesting things to happen sooner rather than later. But "Lost" is a character-driven journey, too, so there'll be plenty of focus on the romantic quadrangle of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Juliet.
Speaking of sardonic hunk Sawyer, will he get the screen time he deserves? "We really feel it's the year of Sawyer," says Lindelof. "He's really stepping up in a major way."

"We really feel it's the year of Sawyer,"
I am sure the Josh/Sawyer fans will be happy to read this! :)
First time being first. Hee hee. Sawyer is easy on the eyes. I also love his character. Happy to hear we'll be seeing more of him this season. Still a Jack girl at heart though. Would be hard to choose if I actually had a choice. *Wakes up from dream* The bad good boy or the good bad boy? HMMMMMMM.....
darn....2nd after all
"We really feel it's the year of Sawyer,"
AMENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN !!
congrat josh you deserved it :D
You know..
As much as I like the fact that Josh is finally getting utilized in a fashion deserving of his commitment to this show (was a long time coming) - I really can't muster up all that much cheer for the prospects of where I THINK this is going. You dont hire someone like Holloway and not utilize him in some sort of romantic fashion; and since Kate is off the Island, im guessing Juliet is up to bat. The spoilers seem to lean that way too. However, we all know that this whole triangle/quadruple has been going on waaaaaaaay too long - and is likely to continue to the point of completely eradicating any trace of the original views that shippers had on the whole thing. And that goes for Jaters as well as Skaters. Quite frankly I'm not really looking forward to something new getting built up and torn down.
And yes, Im quite sure that's whats gonna happen, in some shape, form or fashion.
Great, it's Sawyer's year!!!! It's about time!! He deserves a good storyline and a lot more screentime! Can't wait for season 5!!!
Oh, God, no! *There will be plenty of focus on the quadrangle.* I was thinking this year would be triangle-lite and they'd pic up on it more in S6 when Kate made her definitive choice. Hopefully they just mean in terms of shifting the triangle access to enclose the Sawyer/Juliet pairing.
Hopefully they will give Sawyer relevant screentime and not just running around shirtless screentime?!?
And hopefully we will still get plenty of Jack since I too will always be a Jack girl at heart.
Josh said it best - Sawyer is a fun weekend but Jack is the guy you settle down with!!
Let's let the triangle die in a hellish inferno. Please.
And then shoot its burnt corpse and let it marry a square.
The year of Sawyer?! Season 5 is so gonna be my fave Season ever! Love you Darlton
If season 5 is the year of Sawyer, I would call season 3 the year of Jack (with Kate taking over for the middle episodes) and season 4 the year of Ben.
If you think back to the previous seasons, Darlton ALWAYS bring up the "romance" side of the show in these type of interviews, because they know that there is still a big part of the fan base that is into it...
Of course many of us online want to perhaps see something different and probably do not mind the romance side as long as it flows and is NOT this tri/quad-angle....
/wins Lost Fantasy League
Character-driven story=quadrangle ? Way to express the show's quality level...
S1 and S3 (and hopefully S6) - Jack
S2 Locke
S4 Ben
Sawyer/Josh got very, very little screentime this year as compared to his S3 time (wasn't he 7th on the list?) so I'm sure they are just trying to placate Josh fans. And rightfully so. I just don't want it to come at the expense of characters who are far more entrenched in the relevant storytelling: Ben, Locke, Jack, etc.
Just when i thought i couldn't love you guys anymore Darlton! The year of Sawyer! Thats brilliant news!
Best characther of each season for me:
Season 1: Locke, of course
Season 2: I think season 2 don't had best characther... maybe Ana Lucia or Eko?
Season 3: Desmond!!!
Seadon 4: Ben, for sure.
Season 5: Sawyer? Daniel?
Some of you just don't get it do you. If you look at the media mentions it's usually Kate and Sawyer snogging or half naked Sawyer. Clue is that some of us peasants like this. I understand all the curious features of the island and all that stuff cos I'm into sci fi or whatever you would call this but without the personal stuff i wouldn't give sweet f.a.
uffff, finaly fans of Sawyer will stop lament that they want more from Sawyer.
But I will be very glad, that Sawyer will show to us for now that he is great amazing and super character of this tv show:)))

Excellent points you make. CIP, most folks really like Des and Penny. I still maintain that had they always had an end-date and not have had to stall in early S3 we wouldn't be in the ridiculous love quad mess we are in now. They wouldn't have had to prolong the barriers in the Jate relationship with the arc that most people disliked and potential they could have let Sawyer develop a storyline outside of simply the triangle. What most hate is the fickle Kate aspect of the triangle. Even Evie hates it. Problem is neither side really wants to give in. So we are left with an impasse and with Darlton still playing both sides. I'm just glad the Jack/Juliet thing seems to be over and done with. God, I really hated that. Worst couple ever.
I'm so happpppyyy!!!! Hurry up and get here Jan 21!!
The year of Sawyer
YES! YES! YES! The best news of the entire, freaking year!!!
Come on, jan 21!

What kind of thing is that to say? What if season 5 will be for Sawyer what season 4 was for Ben; the year we find out how very important he is to the overall story.
We really feel it's the year of Sawyer
Yeah , very happy to hear it.
In the last Two seasons James was a little bit in the shadow, welcome back James.
if darlton said it's sawyer's year, deal with it jack's fan ! josh deserves it, the last year it wasn't fair at all, i don't think sawyer's year equal triangle ! ok maybe it could mean focus in sawyer's love life too but i think it's something else ! remember he's in dharma time, seem to be called lafleur with epi 508 called like that ! stop to dismish josh and sawyer as screentime = more sawyer's shirtless !
damn it !
grown up !
and @universo lost : i could say s3 was charlie and desmond season :) and i think s2 was locke and eko (IMO)
Why are the writers dragging Juliet back into the love shape after she has shown so much character growth and bowed out of it at the end of last season? It's not as if she has a shot to end up with any of them because the producers said it themselves, she's Ross Perrott. So it looks as if they will sacrifice her character again at the altar of the triangle because they are obviously not imaginative enough to keep it going without degrading her and turning her into a plot device. So much for the writers liking Juliet's character.
It is excellent that at last it's acknowledged that people like the character development and that's not trivial compared to the mystery of the season. I've watched most sci-fi fantasy stuff and they all have a sexual tension as a main part of the story because the series would die on it's arse if the didn't. So instead of carping on about the triangle and quadrangle everyone should thank the makers that they had the very good sense to make it a major part of the series, and anyone that doesn't appreciate this is probably a purist numb-nut.
If more Sawyer doesn't equal to more quadrangle more nicknames more shirtless scenes I can get it but if it is usual Sawyerness it definitely decrease my expectations from Lost. Lost shouldn't have more of such a Sawyer in its 5th season.
Well some of us poor lustful morons like shirtless Sawyer and his character development. At least he's not crying and if he is sweating it's attractive. I'm sure there will be lots of other stuff Lost is good at that, the mysteries, whispers, Dharma, all good background for the geeks and years worth of analysis that the actual cast aren't invested in or the writers.
By the sounds of it, Season 5 is going to be the proverbial bullet into the half dead carcass of Lost. Probably for the best though, the show's never been able to return to it's Season 1 form and Season 3 was an absolute joke for the most part.
Not too long ago I couldn't wait for the next episode of Lost, now i'm not even sure i'll be watching the season premier. The character development has always been the main reason I watch Lost, but to see well written, well acted characters get shafted so there can be a bit more drool time for a few fans says everything you need to know about how far this show has fallen. Back in 2004 the show was promoted as great television, now it's "OMG Sawyer is shirtless for teh entire first episzodezz !!111!!!"
The terminal cancer that is the fangirl strikes again. RIP Lost.
@Cogito: If more Sawyer doesn't equal to more quadrangle more nicknames more shirtless scenes I can get it but if it is usual Sawyerness it definitely decrease my expectations from Lost. Lost shouldn't have more of such a Sawyer in its 5th season.
Agree completely with this. That is what I'm trying to say.
All I keep hearing is that Sawyer is shirtless for the premiere. I agree he is a nice looking guy but I expect more from Lost. It's isn't Baywatch afterall. Does he not have any more to offer? Connecting him strongly to the mythos at this point would be difficult. Ben was a part of it from the very beginning not just in S4. Sawyer's place has always been as a part of the triangle. We don't need more of that in S5 we need some answers now in the home stretch.
If Jack, Kate and Sawyer weren't enough already...
A couple posters on here really need to slow their role a bit.
The next season hasnt even begun, and already bemoaning a spoiler as non-revealing as this, and questioning whether or not it'll be worth it to keep watching.
It's simple; either the next seasons gonna be great, or it isnt. Either way; it's the same people that gave us the rest of the seasons. So if it suck, atleast we can say we ALL got duped. Not just the overly hostile "intellectual" crowd.
"Does he not have any more to offer?"
Of course he does. Watch the season before you judge it, the we'll see what he has to offer. ;)
Sawyer’s Season, HALLELUJAH! I love Sawyer. The character has chemistry with Kate, with Hurley, Ben, Juliet, Jin, Sayid, Locke, Claire, Aaron, Miles, Frank, and the nearest palm tree. Even with Jack, due to the amazing Mr. Holloway. If this is Sawyer's season; Josh earned it! Why are so many people upset because he is also damn fine to look at? You guys complaining would have no problem with Juliet in her underwear or Kate without hers. Josh can hold his own with a pretty heavy weight cast and do more with his eyes than some actors can with their entire body and ten paragraphs of dialog. Bring Sawyer on!!!!!!

Exactly! I'm excited to see where else they can take Sawyer, to see him step up away from the triangle will actually be nice. However from another spoiler on this site, it looks like he'll be sucked back into it before we know it..Hence making the "Season of Sawyer" seem a lot less appealing...
Well Kat if it was Jack shirtless it would probably get your vote. The triangle has always been a huge pull for Lost and that is why they advertise it so much. Are you really unaware of this? And why is there a triangle because the Kate/Jack thing didn't work. I appreciate you just want a jack and kate picture everywhere but whatever happens that;s not likely until the last episode if they kill the story off earlier the ratings will tank. I'm in marketing and you simply wouldn't do it, the triangle or quadrangle is a cash cow, marketing terminology for an earner. I've heard the same groans and moans from the people who like Sawyer with Kate. I want to see a bit of Juliet and sawyer, I like the character and the romance with the backdrop of the island. I don't give a stuff about Sayid, Sun, or Ben. I like Lock, Hurley but Sawyer's the one I want to save. Jack should have a magnificent death and die for the island, hooray for him reaching his destiny.
Maybe I should look at the positives. Kate still pining for Sawyer and Juliet possibly falling in love with Sawyer (sorry, but this is so silly that I nearly fell of my chair when typing it up because I had to laugh so hard at it) leaves Jack with no romantic possibilities anymore. That's the positive thing about it. At least in Sawyer's story women have a bigger purpose than to serve as ego props or the temptress.
And yay for more Sawyer in season 5. I really missed him a lot in season 4.
Yay for Sawyer I agree, I'm no big fan of Kate's totally support EL's view of Kate character preying on Sawyer, (as hot as the kiss bites down his chest were), after she'd seen J/J flirting. Quite happy with a juliet and sawyer lovefest. Juliet is a an incredible character and it would be interesting to see Sawyer's approach with her. Kate and Sawyer are naturally soul mates but the writers screwed the story after 'I do.'
"At least in Sawyer's story women have a bigger purpose than to serve as ego props or the temptress."
Agreed wholeheartedly.
@Blighty - actually if the only spoilers I was hearing about Jack in the first episodes were that he was shirtless I would definitely not be happy with how the character was being used. The story is a deep and epic one and I don't like it when the superficial is focused on. I agree that the premise of the triangle will last until S6 I just don't want to see more of Kate's back and forth as it demeans the character and Evie hates to play it.
@Hamburgo - In Sawyer's history women are most definitely simply "used." I like the idea of Juliet with him because she could actually hold her own with him. She isn't easily manipulated as his past victims were or even as Kate has been (Long Con) She knows exactly who he is and what he's capable of. I like the idea of that.
"In Sawyer's history women are most definitely simply "used.""
I love how some people continue to ignore very obvious character growth, wont accept that sawyer has changed and resort back to sawyer's past to make thee points.
*rolls eyea*
It's great to share opinions and debate, but why the negativity from some?
Lost will be back on again in 12 days! Be happy and get ready to enjoy what looks to bean incredible season :)
excuse the typos
Actually, Kate is a real part of Sawyer/Kate because Sawyer's entire story on the island has been built around her. The same can not be said of Jack/Kate. That relationship is all about the almighty Jack with Kate as the generic female. That's why the picture in Kate's house in one of the sneak peeks was so striking. While Des and Penny both carry around a picture that shows them as a couple, Kate is nowhere to be seen in the photograph in her house. It's Jack and Aaron. Not Jack/Kate or Jack/Kate/Aaron.
Well peace everyone we all have our favourites :) Goodnight from the UK.
I hope Sawyer teams up with Charlotte...
Why??
I just fee in my vitals.... that they would make a watchable couple
Whereas!
Sawyer + Juliet = Wrong
"Expect a lot of interesting things to happen sooner rather than later"
Like the O6 getting back to The Island? Yay!
To each their own, it's just that simple. If I can take a little break from the O6 and Ben next season, I'll be more than happy. Because you know, Lost should be about the characters and personal development, not only mythology, and the characters left on the island deserve their "turn" in terms of screentime and storylines after being put in the background last season. That said, I don't doubt the mythology related figures and the O6 will get their fair share of material, so why all this fuss?
The writers themselves have told that they spend 80% of their time thinking about the characters (which means personal storylines and personal development).
And Sawyer is in my opinion one of the characters who has showed the biggest progress since the beginning of the series - so in a story where the main focus is on the characters and their stories, that makes him relevant in my eyes, yes.
I'm still watching Lost to follow the journey of all these people, some interest me more than others, and Sawyer is one of those I care about the most.
This:
Speaking of sardonic hunk Sawyer, will he get the screen time he deserves? "We really feel it's the year of Sawyer," says Lindelof. "He's really stepping up in a major way."
makes me excited about next season and I truly hope Lindelof is telling the truth.
Why does this have to turn into a Jack thing or a shipper thing?
*Sigh* Sawyer is one of my favorite characters on the show and I felt his development was huge last season...yet they didn't show us most of it. It was very disappointing that he got from point A to B and they didn't focus much if any time showing us that journey.
I cannot wait to see more of him and see his storyline directly become involved with the mythology. Which is still not the case for many of the characters who are actually "the leads".
Best spoiler yet! I can't wait.
^My thoughts exactly!
More Sawyer. Now that's what I like to hear. <3
Don't forget Ben's obsession with Juliet. Love-pentangle. But wait! What about Annie? Love-hexangle. You could also look at all that as a quadrangle connected to a triangle. A heptangle?
Basically, it could be a lot worse.
Okay the Sawyer love is nice...but what about the ballsy new direction the show is taking according to Damon and Carlton. I personally don't have a problem with that for D & C are geeks at heart and the show has been steller so far...but they're wording....:
''"Like it or not, we decided to take some chances this year and be bold in our storytelling and we're willing to accept the consequences of that."
....seems to indicate that these changes are not exactly crowd pleasing....
Can't wait to see Sawyer's role developed beyond the rogue hunk that he is, I think he will be the leader on the island, of course I wouldn't mind him hooking up with Juliet, what can I say I'm a romantic. That said, I also think we will see a more caring or better compassionate side of Sawyer
In true television and Lost style he will become a hero... and then die a hero. Cant help but think that.
We've already seen a more caring and compassionate side of Sawyer. All of season three. All of season four. You can't miss it.
Jack is the hero that will die. Mark my words.
XD LOL
Reading all of the above has been fun. Thank you! :)
LMAO @ GCDSA^
Actually, I thought, obviously, Sawyer/James' pivotal moment was from the moment he killed Anthony Cooper and forward from that. His emotional state, especially after sacrificing his "ride" off the island for Kate & Co. on the helicopter, is one that we have NOT seen before and I am glad we will (probably) see a new, rounded side of Sawyer/James.
It looks like the island comes under attack, or at least the beach camp. Now that we know Sawyer can kill as a means to an end, I'm glad he is there (alive)!
Sawyer is a slut. He'll probably be with several women before the season is over. I can't see him & Juliet falling in love, but I could definately see some tension relief going on.
i like sawyer, and i'm happy for josh-a little less focus on his shirtless stuff, and a little more backstory please. i wish people wouldn't compare jack/sawyer so much and just enjoy the freakin' show--all the back and forth makes me hate fandom
Shippers... -rolleyes-
You are never going to learn, are you? For skaters the triangle was so over after I Do. For jaters the triangle was so over after Something Nice Back Home. And now both of you are screaming the triangle is over because of something Darlton said (skaters because of the "pining" thing and jaters because of the "implied Suliet"). And I was thinking I had seen everything about you crazy people.
^Anyone who thought Skate was over because of the jate scenes in SNBH didn't watch the last 5 minutes of that episode.
to me this is telling me that most likely Sawyer will die this season, but at the end of it. darn.
I hate the comments for this post! Also women are totally worse than men...just the mentioned of Sawyer shirtless caused an uproar, its like a huge lost mystery is going to be uncovered...but there is no mystery cuz under that shirt theres two nipples and a waxed chest...and guess what those nipples cannot be milked so they're useless...LOST...
Well it was time for some Sawyer action!.
Can't waith fo the new seaso, it sounds great for Sawyer and Skate:)!
Glad, Sawyer is getting more screen time this year. I just hope he gets a good plot to play. But so far we only heard that he will be shirtless for the entire episode (wow!) and there will be some Suliet on the way (Oh noes).
Like it or not, we decided to take some chances this year and be bold in our storytelling and we're willing to accept the consequences of that.
Should i start to get worried?
On one hand i'm glad they decided to be bold in storytelling, but on the other hand, the fact that they believe this wouldn't please fans worries me.
As to Jason's comment I'm a bit worried that this may be the last season of Sawyer and they will create a huge build up to offing him. I've said it before if they want Kate to end up with Jack I can't see it working unless Sawyer is out of the picture. I know one thing if they do that the ratings will tank! Basically the Sawyer Kate thing has become enormous and ABC are building it. On the best moments vote at the ABC site there are two sawyer/kate love scenes. So I see major tragedy on the horizon. Hope I'm wrong.
Stepping up suggests to me not romance but someone taking responsibility. Juliet and Sawyer will doubtless grow close and may be allowed quiet moments to reflect on what they have lost. Unlike the O6 they won't be pretending that the past hasn't happened. I think we will be allowed to believe it could develop into something more just before Kate is due to arrive on the scene.
The focus on the shirtlessness seems to have come from the critics who have seen the episode. I'm guessing that Sawyer's efforts to get a shirt and shoes will add some lightness to a rather dark episode. They probably played it up because of all the comments about about him rising like some male Venus from the sea at the end of the last season. Sawyer's strength as a character is that he brings humour as well as the possibility of action, tragedy and romance.
Anyone who says only the casual fans care about the romance side should compare the number of comments here to a generic spoiler topic ;)
Well, if this is Sawyer's season, than the final season is going to be Jack's, and possibly Sawyer dies this season.
As a Jack's fangirl it's a little bit frustrating for me because I have to wait another year to get Jack's story.
But it kind of makes sense.
Season 5 is Sawyer Season; he needs it after very little screen time last season. Plus I cant wait to see him & the others in the Dharma days come Season 5. Also I think Sawyer & Juliet will make great leaders or joint leaders.
Sawyer's journey as a character has been fascinating to watch and his continued journey from Sawyer to James will continue to be fascinating to watch. It started way back in season one when designated hero Jack was dismissive of Claire's desire to do a memorial for the bodies he wanted to burn, while Sawyer gave her personal papers to help her honor the dead. It hasn't been without setbacks like when people started to like him after he came back from the raft and he went out of his way to make sure everyone hated him, because he hates himself for the things he's done and what he's become.
The same can't be said for Jack. He started out as a doctor who didn't care how much pain and suffering he caused his patients as long as he prolonged their lives for as long as possible, to a doctor who left injured people on the ground wanting to run after Others to a doctor who couldn't even tell if a woman was alive or dead.
As a leader Jack is even worse. He was a dictator who was dismissive of any ideas but his own. Many times he was more of a danger to his people then the Others were.
If they do some hurry-up redemption story for Jack it will always pale in comparison to Sawyer's series long redemption.
In regards to the shirtless stuff, the show tried to sell Fox as the shirtless hunk, at first, and he couldn't cut it. In the first few episodes of Lost they kept having Jack strip off, while Sawyer kept his clothes on. It wasn't until they realized Jack as shirtless hunk wasn't going to work they passed the torch to Sawyer.
Josh Holloway's talent is what earned him a major part on the show. He didn't have the show laid at his feet from the start like Matthew Fox.
And for those who think they're doing it before they kill him off, you're fooling yourself. They'll be shoving this dead as a doornail triangle to the very last scene of Lost and Sawyer's the only one that put any real feelings into it. Sawyer's the only one believably in love. As for Jack and Kate, neither seem in love. Jack's hot and cold feelings whenever some new woman catches his eye and Kate's jumping between the two make you sing, "What's love got to do with it."

Remember when people didn't take their own laughably bias opinions as gospel? those were the days. Seriously Matthew Fox had the show "thrown at his feet" when you're the better actor that tends to happen believe it or not.
Yeah angel fan but you've got to admit in the shirt off contest Sawyer looks better!
"We really feel it's the year of Sawyer,"
This makes me very happy. Especially if Sawyer basically becomes the leader Jack was, in season 1.
I think it's exciting that Darlton keep saying they don't want stall in S5. The spoilers we have received about S5 don't seem like stalling whatsoever. So I would assume S6 is going to be insane!
Well I hope he doesn't torture anyone!
"and possibly Sawyer dies this season."
Josh is contracted for 6 seasons.
My God, no wonder shippers get a bad reputation.
Anyway, I doubt he'll die at the end of S5. It seems they just mean he'll be prominent in a similar manner as Ben was in S4, meaning he'll get quite a lot of screen-time and he'll factor heavily into the main plot of S5. Very good news after he was under-used in S5.
"He's really stepping up in a major way."
I really doubt this 'major' thing is about romance (doubt and hope). Also, the ones to blame about the shirtless stuff are people like Kristin, the magazines, etc. To each their own, but it's funny to see how some people can only notice that kind of stuff and are missing the rest. Their loss, I suppose.
Anyway, as we all know, try to go ahead with Lost is almost completely worthless, that's why I think it's better to wait a see what's going to happen instead of drawing 'out of nowhere' conclusions that are later proved to be wrong most of time the time. Of course, everyone is free to think what they want, all it's just my humble opinion.
Okay, surely the "year of Sawyer" refers to more than him getting it on with Juliet. I'm wondering if we find out something major about him, like perhaps he is a former member of Dharma and was brainwashed to forget it? Maybe that's why he had a look of recognition when he saw the room 23 vid. And season 3 was uneven, but we still had awesome Juliet and Ben centric episodes; Alpert, Hawking, Jacob, Patchy, Horace Goodspeed and Annie were introduced; Charlie went out with the best storyline of his entire arc (considering how most characters die on this show); Locke, Kate, Sayid and Rousseau went on a mission together; and the season finale was one of the best episodes of the series.
P if he was there before wouldn't he have had to be a very young man I would have thought he's younger than Ben?
Universo Lost said... Best character of each season for me: Season 1: Locke, of course Season 2: I think season 2 don't had best characther... maybe Ana Lucia or Eko? Season 3: Desmond!!! Seadon 4: Ben, for sure. Season 5: Sawyer? Daniel?
============
Yeah, season 2 is a bit iffy... but in no way is Ana-Lucia anywhere near the top of that list.
I do agree with the rest.
I think that probably Ben will continue to dominate off-island. On-island, I'm not sure. Daniel would be a good guess, though.
P just checked Ben or actor 15 years older than Sawyer, of course Sawyer could have been there in a parallel time line but that just makes my headache.

Well, if this is Sawyer's season, than the final season is going to be Jack's, and possibly Sawyer dies this season.
As a Jack's fangirl it's a little bit frustrating for me because I have to wait another year to get Jack's story.
I thought that we got Jack's story 3 times over already. ;)
^
Ha! Definitely. We've been watching Jack's story since the beginning, tattoos included. ;)
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! (just no suliet, please...)
"Josh is contracted for 6 seasons."
So was Dominic Monaghan, I believe. The contracts are not two-way streets. It means they can keep you or kill you. :-)
I think it's safe to say that Sawyer isnt going anywhere anytime soon.
He draws in a large crowd, and thus rendering him damn near unkillable. And even if they should decide to off him, it wouldnt even have a large impact on the triangle and whatnot, since I can pretty much guarantee that he would be ghost-of-christmas-past'in it all through season 6 too. And hell, they could wind up knocking off Kate too in the end, then we have ghost romance. Ooohwee.
Mike S. Good point.

I'm talking about his future story, his real destiny. His connection to the island. His father's mystery, his leadership role. I'm sure it will be huge.
Sawyer is a great character (when he is not involved in romantic crap), but Jack seems to be more integral and important in terms of the mythology.
"We really feel it's the year of Sawyer," says Lindelof. "He's really stepping up in a major way."
The best spoiler ever, I love you Mr. Lindelof. Sawyer's season finally, I was waiting since season one Sawyer becoming the leader of the show I hope maybe this is the year.
I guessed this could be the Sawyer's year cause the promotional group picture, he's exactly in the middle in a prominent place :), and cause the episode "Le fleur".. why has he a new name? Is there anyone excited cause this strange episode?
I am excited and happy with this new spoiler and I hope this season we'll see not just a shirtless and sexy Sawyer ( with romance too) which is very interesting to me too but a new develope of SawyerLeFleur's character. Josh deserves it.
Season 5 sounds the best Lost season to me :)
Am I the only person who is terrified that they are going to build him all up only to send him out in a blaze of glory by season end???
I can't imagine the last season without him - even if he gets to return as a ghost.
I need reassurance!
PCat45, no me too, I'm really worried about this as especially the shots of JH just before the series started were so miserable which is weird for him. He usually shines in PR. It looked like he'd got the tap on the shoulder. I only watch for Sawyer so I'm concerned.
