Update: 01:00 Big thanks to back_gammon for this very detailed summary of the podcast.
Rehash "The Substitute"
***What to call Locke now? They've noted some in the fan community are calling him Smocke. (Yay! Nice shoutout, Zen!) or UnLocke. They debated this in the writers' room and they decided to call him plain old Locke. He's taken the place of Locke, still looks like Locke, it's still Terry O'Quinn.
***We will get a little bit more about the numbers soon. They've mentioned in the past they'll never be able to fully explain why those particular numbrs. They've gone on about the Valenzetti equation, and now they've revealed that the numbers correspond to some of the passengers. But we'll get a little bit more very soon.
Prehash "The Lighthouse"
***The title has multiple meanings, including metaphoric meanings.
***What is the point of the sideflashes? They're still being dodgy about what the point is. But they say that in the ALT, the Losties are running into each other and helping each other. This is an ongoing motif.
***The differences between the ALT and the island universe will become even more pronounced as we go along.
***We will see a little more of "Feral Claire" (the term Cuse likes). Feral Claire is one of Carlton's favorite characters this season. He likes that she's had three years "to go a little Borneo" on the island. LOL, whatever that means.
Q & A
***The October date on Claire's ultrasound is a prop error. Oceanic 815 landed on Sept 22, 2004.
***They like the name "Clairesseau" for Feral Claire.
***A fan wants to name his new baby either Jack or Desmond. Which is the most auspicious name? Cuse says go with Desmond. He thinks Desmond has a better, happier life.
***Dogen's name was a deliberate choice, he was named after teh 11th century scholar/monk, but it's a happy coincidence that the real Dogen died on Sept 22.
***Did Damon and Carlton pull a fast one and squeeze in the zombie season after all? Lots of jokes. But say they're excited everyone has their zombie radar up and running. The jury is still out on Sayid. More to come as the zombie journey continues.
***Which reality would they prefer to live in? LA X 2004, or the island, 2007? Damon replies he'd prefer the island because it's more exciting. Then, Damon launched into something that confused me. He said "They are not alternate timelines (so far so good, he said that last time.) " But you cannot treat these two things as separate entities. They are not alternate timelines." [Okay, I'm a little confused by the distinction he's trying to make. Thoughts?]
Continuing his answer about which reality he'd prefer to live in, Damon said he is not concerned about getting attacked by the smoke monster. "He seems a very reasonable fellow. When Saywer almost fell, Smoke monster saved him."
Cuse prefers to live in the LA X reality. He likes the safety, the cars, the coffee shops.
Cuse then asks, "If the timelines are related, can we still do the podcast?
Damon replies "My head hurts."
[Honestly, guys, I think there's a message in there somewhere. I just don't know what it is.]
***Question about the left foot/right foot thing. Continuity error or deliberate? No answer, just a joke about getting off on the wrong foot.
***Next podcast maybe between 6th and 7th episode. They're busy like crazy writing, writing, writing. But they'll continue to post little things on twitter.
***If you'd like to submit a podcast question for Damon and Carlton, do so by e-mailing it to lostfanquestions@abc.com
