Had an interesting bit of information from a DarkUFO reader today called RebeccahS and I've confirmed this information to be authentic.
Let's see what you anagram experts can make out of Frank Lapidus.
According to documents on the online database used by the production company the character Jeff Fahey is playing is named FRANK LAPIDUS. May be a fake name, but it is used consistently in the casting call sheets, shooting schedule, etc. There are also names for other new characters if interested.

I am guessing but...
I don't think this necessarily means that Fahey isn't Jacob. It would make sense that Jacob is an assumed name. Perhaps Frank Lapidus was character's name at birth. Once this character acquired his powers, he became "Jacob".

It's a variation on a name for Deborah's husband from the book of Judges. It means "torches."
Did you know that Lapidus is the Jewish name for Candle?

When I heard the name, I immediately thought of Latin - lapis, lapidarius. Stone or relating to stones. (We get the English 'lapidary' from it.) Stone...rock...Black Rock. Those few frames of Jacob from last season sure make it look like he's wearing 19th century garb.

Expose showed up on ABC.com today... when Hurley is flipping through the script, in the cast list, there are 8 names: 5 of what appear to be the main cast (starting with Billy Dee Williams and the two actresses who play the star strippers), and then three that are guest stars (which includes Nikki).
