Thanks once again to Ryan from Hawaii Blog for the following summary from Joel and Brian.
Although “LOST” production has essentially wrapped for the year, cameras are still rolling here and there for mobisodes, pick-ups and reshoots. Last night, my friend Ian reported seeing them setting up downtown. I wasn’t able to make the trek, but I was sure someone would catch them at work. Sure enough, I got an email from Brian and his friend Joel this morning. (I last crossed paths with Brian downtown last November during shooting for a big Desmond scene.) Here’s what they saw:
“They were shooting a bunch of scenes with
Harold Perrineau coming out of a NYC apartment building, getting in a green car, reading some folded paper that he pulled out of his pocket, and speeding away in his car down the street.”
A brief scene, to be sure, but it obviously connects to the New York scene they filmed a few blocks away on Nov. 15. Note that the green Dodge Aspen that Michael was driving last night was also part of that earlier shoot, where I’d picked up talk of a car crash. I knew the car wasn’t long for this world (thanks to the friend of a friend of a Dodge Aspen owner), but I didn’t know until now that it was Michael behind the wheel.

This is Cool!!! NYC, a teenage boy as son??? Mabe the man in the coffin is Michael!!
I am tending to think that the Michael scenes are FLASHBACKS, not FLASHFORWARDS.
Why?
Well, in an earlier story, Hawaii Blog reported that Michael & Tom (a.k.a. "Mr. Friendly") fought in the street after Michael crashed the green car.
Tom is dead.
It can only be a FLASHBACK, then. According to Damon and Carlton, once dead on the island, you stay dead.
I'm thinking that it is a flashback and that Tom shows up in NYC to check on Michael.
"I'm thinking that it is a flashback and that Tom shows up in NYC to check on Michael."
That would explain why Ben had Tom alone wear a beard.
Why would Tom be checking on Michael? Did they had a hand in killing Walt's mother? Or did the island do that and then bring the two of them to it? Or did Ben wish them there via the "magic box" power? It's starting to look like someone or something planned to put Walt and Michael on flight 815.
As with most Lostie encounters before the island, this one is probably as coincidental as the next. Tom likely wasn't even recruited with Dharma yet.
To say that there was some huge master plan to get Michael/Walt to the island 10 years ago, only to release them in the end seems extremely far-fetched, especially when you factor in the span of years this would have involved. Also, it is very doubtful the disguise Tom wore was to prevent Michael from recognizing him -- since Tom openly took his fake beard off in Michael's presence. Michael likely wouldn't even remember Tom, if their pre-island encounter was quick or indirect.
Well it certain looks like Micheal is not only back, but back with a vengence. From the looks of things, I guess that it is pretty safe to assume that episode 8 will be Micheal centric. And I would venture to guess that the scene with Tom will be the big surprise ending of this episode.
