Thanks to DarkUFO reader AlaskaDave, one of the Mods over at Lostpedia for sending us this great report and photos from the recent filming that was done as part of the "Simon's Butcher Chop" scene as we reported here. He also has sent some other set/location photos from his personal visit that you can see below. Also thanks to i_sell_seals at Lostpedia
Just letting you know as of 12noon on Monday, they've finished filming at Simon's Butcher Shop. I have pics of the LOST crew guys tearing it all down, including the signage. Last Friday, the set was all done up with meat and sausages hanging in the windows, and now its all gone! Talk about quick filming :)
The night ones are pre-filming (you can see the cash register, basket, and some fake meat hanging in the windows) and the day ones are post filming. I couldn't tell you if it was Bender or Williams, but something reeked of Bender on set :)
I also added a REALLY cool shot of the LOST crew guy taking down Simon's Butcher Shop.. you can even see the crew shirt he's wearing.
I just got word that they're filming in Ka'a'awa valley tomorrow. I caught site of an amazingly large outrigger canoe presumably for the Desmond/Philippines scenes

awesome Dark! I'll send you anything I get during the filming... Im sure Ryan will beat me to it, but still, the point stands :D
note the sausages hanging in Simon's Butcher Shop in the first shot! The set was *really* dressed up and I didn't get the feeling that this was a random scene; however, I'll swing by that filming site over the next week to see if they redress it as anything else!
Thanks Dave, appreciate all the photo and intel. Looking forward to more reports during the Hiatus :)
The only possible plot detail I get is... I notice the sign is flipped to "closed", so that could mean that the action is set when the shop isn't actually open.
Or... the crew guys flipped it over as they broke down the set, as a joke that the store is "closed" for business after filming is done.
If the butchery was in L.A. I would speculate that it's big fridge would be a perfect hiding place for a body you want to preserve...
But I don't think Jack would take a plane to hide Locke's body in England. He will probably do it at the hospital...
I've no idea.
Thanks AlaskaDave!
I still don't get it: What would be related to Simon's Butcher Shop? I mean - Charlie's dead, is it something about Desmond visiting there for Charlie or something?
gokhan, I really don't think that's the shop of Charlie's Dad. It's just a butcher who's also named Simon.
Something I found weird: Didn't the tree burn DOWN?

I was thinking the same thing Nevermore.

Yeah, because Lost is usually just that coincidental.
Yeah, because Lost is usually just that coincidental.
They've been casting for a character who is a butcher. And lo and behold, here is a butcher shop!
Occam's razor, what's more likely: the shop is connected to this character, or a minor flashback character connected to someone who has been dead for two seasons? I don't doubt that Charlie will turn up again, but I don't see it being in connection to this - I fear, this is where Ben and Jack are going to "park" Locke's corpse.
Nevermore - yes, I read the same report about the tree being burned down, but it looks like they used a few different trees. This was the only tree like that left in the area, and its definitely one of the ones they used!
Great pictures! :D
Thanks AlaskaDave, great pictures.
I thought to myself "what a DORK for posing on random Lost locations" ... then three seconds late, I realized I probably would have done exactly the same thing.
Lucky!
